SEETA University has marked a major milestone in advancing digital education in Uganda, with 350 students graduating in Artificial Intelligence (AI) during a colorful ceremony held at its Mbalala campus in Mukono District.

The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest, Dr. Cosmas Mwikirize, Superintendent for Industrial Value Chains Development at the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat in the Office of the President. He commended the university for equipping young people with practical, future-ready technology skills and reaffirmed government commitment to supporting innovation and digital transformation.

Dr. Mwikirize urged the graduates to use Artificial Intelligence responsibly and ethically, emphasizing that technology should be used to improve lives and not harm society.

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mourice Bakaluba Tamale, applauded government efforts in promoting science and technology and called for increased support towards innovation platforms that enable students to develop practical solutions for everyday challenges.

A key highlight of the initiative was the contribution of the proprietor of Seeta University, Dr. JC Muyingo, whose commitment to giving back to the community made the program possible.

Through this initiative, students from different parts of the country—including those from underprivileged backgrounds—were able to study Artificial Intelligence free of charge.

Some beneficiaries, particularly those from financially challenged families, expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the opportunity as life-changing. Two students shared emotional testimonies of how the training has opened doors they never imagined possible, giving them hope and a new direction in life.

The Academic Registrar, Ronald Mbago, revealed that over 500 students enrolled in the AI training program, with 350 successfully completing the intensive two-month course. He encouraged graduates to apply their knowledge in real-world situations and called upon parents to continue supporting such impactful programs.

Dr. Lillian Tamale, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology, emphasized that the training was practical and hands-on, equipping students with relevant AI skills needed in today’s digital economy. She also appreciated the support that enabled the program to be offered free of charge.

Guild President Martin Henry Tendo praised the university’s high standards and encouraged parents to continue trusting Seeta University with their children’s education.

The ceremony attracted parents, religious leaders, education stakeholders, and technology experts, reflecting the growing importance of digital skills in Uganda.

The event was further enlivened by performances from students of Seeta Junior School and Seeta High School, adding excitement to the celebration.

Graduates were awarded certificates in recognition of their achievement, with outstanding students receiving special awards presented by Joanitah Nagawa, Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment.

Parents expressed appreciation to the university for equipping their children with valuable, future-ready skills.
