*AG Kiryowa Kiwanuka hits back at Isaac Ssemakadde. Here are some of the excerpts from the new vision article;*

● ULS is a creation of the law and we should not have to remind the executive of a lawyer's association to read the law.

● Ssemakadde should be mindful of the fact that the participation of the AG in the affairs of the Uganda law society is by conscription under the law...

● The law cannot be simply disregarded because one holds the view that it is "colonial". Interestingly, it's under this same colonial law that the ULS and its council are created.

●AG Kiryowa sought leave of absence from his private law firm and he isn't transacting any business whatsoever for the law firm.  No law requires him to terminate any partnerships.

● it's false to accuse the AG of misadvising the cabinet on the rights of advocates when he overturned court awards relating to war debt claimants in Acholi, Lango, Teso, and West Nile subregions. The AG's office is simply making verifications through the district structures to ensure that rightful beneficiaries receive compensation.  The AGs concern was an exorbitant award of costs ( Shs 109bn ) to the lawyers in this case.

● The LDC Act mandates AG Kiryowa to appoint and remove members of the management committee and to issue regulations for the better management of the LDC.
