Hamz Stadium, which opened its doors just six months ago on June 1st, has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the CHAN 2024 qualifiers between Uganda and Burundi.

While addressing journalists today Rogers Mulindwa, Chairperson of Hamz Nakivuvo Stadium, expressed his Joy in this great achievement

“Hamz Stadium has exceeded all expectations since its opening, and we are honored to be selected to host the CHAN qualifiers,” he stated.

With a capacity of 7,000 general admission seats and 600 VIP spots, Mulindwa says the venue is now equipped to showcase the best football talent.

“These upgrades have been crucial in establishing Nakivuvo as a top-tier venue for international matches,” Mulindwa emphasized.

The upcoming football calendar at Hamz Stadium is packed with exciting fixtures.

Our first fixture will be Burundi against Uganda on the Boxing Day on 26th of December this year, and that match will be played at 18 hours, which is 6pm our second fixture will be on 29th of December and that's Uganda against Burundi.

We are therefore very grateful to CAF, and FUFA for the decision. Well taken. Our commitment as ham stadium is to ensure that we have these matches well managed, so that we have a successful walk through as Burundi hosts Uganda in the match they would have hosted in their country, but because they don't have the facilities, then they are bringing the match here, and cup has approved that.

Following this, the CECAFA U-17 Championship will bring six countries to compete at Hamz Stadium.

Looking ahead, Mulindwa expressed his enthusiasm for the future of Hamz Stadium in African football.

“We have set ambitious goals for the stadium, and I am proud of the progress we have made. Hosting these significant events is a testament to the hard work of the entire team, and we are committed to bringing more top-level football to Uganda,” he concluded.
