Dr. Kizza Besigye and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago are facing significant delays in registering their new political party, the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF).
The registration has hit a snag due to a dispute with the Electoral Commission (EC) over the party’s proposed name, colors, and symbols.
The Katonga group, led by Besigye and Lukwago, has expressed frustration over the holdup and is considering legal action if the issue remains unresolved.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the party Besigye once led, could be behind the delays.
Some speculate the FDC is using its influence to hinder the registration of the Katonga faction.
However, FDC National Chairman Jack Sabiiti has strongly denied these claims, stressing that the registration process is entirely the EC's responsibility.
