Kampala, Uganda – Busujju County Member of Parliament, David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga, has been elected by the Parliament of Uganda to represent the country at the Pan-African Parliament.

The election was conducted during Tuesday evening’s plenary sitting in accordance with Rule 14 and Appendix E of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament. Hon. Lukyamuzi was elected alongside Hon. Sarah Najjuma (Nakaseke District), Hon. Arinaitwe Rwakajara (Workers MP), Hon. Anthony Akol (Kilak North), and Hon. Patience Kinshaba (Kanungu District).

 

 

His election marks another significant milestone in his parliamentary service, entrusting him with the responsibility of representing Uganda’s interests at the continental legislative body while contributing to Africa’s integration and development agenda.

 

 

The Pan-African Parliament, an institution of the African Union, provides a platform for representatives from member states to deliberate on issues affecting the African continent. The Parliament promotes democratic governance, peace and security, human rights, regional integration, economic development, trade, education, health, environmental protection, and the implementation of African Union policies.

 

 

As a member of the Pan-African Parliament, Hon. David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga will participate in debates on continental legislation, contribute to policy discussions, strengthen cooperation among African nations, and advocate for Uganda’s priorities in areas including regional integration, 

 

infrastructure development, trade, youth empowerment, agriculture, and sustainable development.

His new role also offers an opportunity to foster stronger partnerships between Uganda and other African countries, share best legislative practices, and contribute to advancing the African Union’s vision of a prosperous, peaceful, and integrated continent.

 

The election reflects Parliament’s confidence in Hon. Lukyamuzi’s leadership and ability to effectively represent Uganda on the continental stage, where he will work alongside legislators from across Africa to shape policies that promote the welfare and aspirations of African citizens.
