Journalists blocked from accessing the General Court Martial (GCM) in Makindye, Kampala where National Unity Platform (@NUP_Ug ) supporters are appearing for fresh plea taking.

The court is expected to read afresh charges of treachery and unlawful possession of explosives to the suspects who include Olivia Lutaaya, Sanya Muhuydin Kakooza and 17 other NUP supporters who reportedly confessed to committing the offences and asked for presidential pardon after four years of detention without trial.  They initially denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.

The suspects are among 32 Hon. Robert KYAGULANYI supporters arrested shortly after the 2021 violent presidential election in which President Museveni was declared winner as he sought to extend his 35-year rule for another five-year term. Four of their colleagues were earlier released on bail while nine others have maintained innocence and insisted on a plea of not guilty .
