ZIROBWÉ, LUWERO — August 30, 2026 — Hon. Dr. John C. Muyingo, Acting Minister of Education and Sports, has called on Christians to remain committed to serving God while embracing unity, love and community responsibility as key drivers of development.
Minister Muyingo made the call in Zirobwe, Luwero District, during a fundraising drive at Bukasa Sub-Parish aimed at mobilising resources to complete the construction of the church.
The event, held with the support of friends and well-wishers of Mr. Abdon Mugerwa, brought together community members, church leaders and friends who have been contributing towards the completion of the church project.
Speaking through his aide, Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, Minister Muyingo urged Christians to continue dedicating themselves to God’s work while also supporting one another and participating in activities that contribute to the development of their communities.
He emphasised the importance of strengthening the spirit of love, unity and togetherness, noting that a united community is better placed to address its challenges and achieve meaningful development.
As part of his contribution towards the church project, Minister Muyingo donated 100 bags of cement to support the ongoing construction works.
The contribution was warmly welcomed by the Christians and organisers, who thanked Minister Muyingo for standing with them and supporting the church, particularly at a time when his assistance was greatly needed.
The beneficiaries also recalled the support he had previously extended to the church, expressing appreciation for his continued commitment to helping the congregation achieve its development goals.
The event also recognised the contribution of Mr. Abdon Mugerwa and his friends, who have played a significant role in mobilising support towards the completion of the church. Their efforts have brought together different people to contribute resources to the project.
Speaking at the function, Luwero District Women Council Chairperson Hon. Kirabo Agnes Nantongo called upon community members to remain united and work together in supporting initiatives that benefit the wider community.
Hon. Nantongo commended Mr. Abdon Mugerwa for taking the lead in supporting the church project and mobilising friends and well-wishers to contribute towards its completion.
She also contributed Shs500,000 towards the church construction, adding her support to the fundraising effort.
The gathering provided an opportunity for Christians and community members to reaffirm their commitment to faith, unity and collective responsibility, with speakers stressing that completing the church will provide the congregation with a better environment for worship, fellowship and community activities.
The organisers expressed gratitude to Minister Muyingo, Hon. Nantongo, Mr. Mugerwa and all other contributors for their generosity and continued support.
They encouraged more well-wishers to join the fundraising effort so that the remaining construction works can be completed and the church fully put to use.
