The State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. Dr. JC Muyingo, has called on graduates to embrace innovation, research, and community-focused problem solving as Uganda positions itself for a technology-driven future. He delivered this message as Guest of Honour at the 12th Graduation Ceremony of the International University of East Africa (IUEA), where 635 students received degrees and diplomas in fields including Law, Engineering, Science and Technology, Business Management, and others.


The ceremony, held at the university’s main campus in Kansanga, showcased IUEA’s commitment to producing forward-thinking graduates equipped with practical skills for national development. The event attracted university leaders, families, and invited dignitaries, led by Chancellor Dr. Amina Mohamed and Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa.



 

A Call for Innovation and National Service


 


 

In his keynote address, Minister Muyingo congratulated the graduates and emphasized the need for Uganda’s young people to take the lead in tackling challenges within their communities through creativity and research. He urged the new graduates to be “solution finders” who apply their training to support Uganda’s growth.


Muyingo also encouraged the youth to uphold integrity, avoid negative influences, and maintain a strong work ethic as they enter the job market and entrepreneurship space.


 


 

IUEA Aligns with Uganda’s Vision for Technology and Skills



 

Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa, the Vice Chancellor, reaffirmed IUEA’s dedication to advancing government efforts that promote technological adoption and modern learning. He highlighted the university’s ongoing programs designed to empower students with the digital skills required to compete globally.


 


 

Graduates Encouraged to Transform Their Lives and Communities



 

Chancellor Dr. Amina Mohamed urged graduates to fully utilize the knowledge and values gained during their studies to better their lives and contribute to Uganda’s social and economic transformation.
