National Resistance Movement has officially regained leadership of Busiika Town Council following the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Mayor William Magambo at Natyole Playground.

The colorful ceremony attracted thousands of residents, political leaders, councilors, youth, women groups, and local stakeholders who gathered to witness the official swearing-in of the mayor and newly elected councilors.

In his inaugural speech, Mayor William Magambo pledged to transform Busiika Town Council into a model urban center that meets international standards. He emphasized that his leadership will focus on inclusive service delivery, transparency, development, and empowerment programs aimed at uplifting residents across all communities.

“We are going to work tirelessly to place Busiika on the international map through proper planning, improved services, and accountable leadership,” Magambo said.

The mayor vowed to serve all residents without discrimination regardless of political affiliation, religion, or social status. He also highlighted women empowerment and youth empowerment as key priorities of his administration.

Magambo strongly warned against corruption, especially during local tax collection, accusing some residents of conniving with municipal officials to divert public funds, a practice he said has greatly affected service delivery and development in the area.

He further promised to strengthen enforcement of public management laws to ensure accountability and effective governance within the town council.

The Guest of Honor, Brig Gen Jacob Asiimwe, was represented by Dr Kiyini Lule. In his message delivered shortly after the mayor’s speech, Dr. Kiyini Lule called for unity among elected leaders, technical staff, and residents if meaningful transformation is to be achieved in the area.

He urged leaders to put aside political differences and focus on collective development initiatives that can improve the livelihoods of the people.

Other leaders present at the function pledged full support to Mayor Magambo’s administration, saying they will work together to ensure effective service delivery reaches every resident.

Among the key areas highlighted for improvement were medical facilities, clean water supply, electricity connectivity, road infrastructure, and improved public services across the town council.

Residents who attended the event expressed optimism about the new leadership.

Mr. John Ssemanda, a resident of Busiika, said the new administration gives people hope for better services and accountability.

“We expect better roads, improved healthcare, and honest leadership that listens to ordinary citizens. If the mayor fulfills his promises, Busiika will truly develop,” he said.

Ms. Sarah Nakato, another resident, said women and youth are hopeful that the new leadership will create employment opportunities and support community development programs.

“We want to see real empowerment for women and young people, especially through business support and skills programs. The mayor’s message has encouraged many of us,” she noted.

The event ended in celebrations as residents welcomed the new leadership with hopes of a new era of development and transformation in Busiika Town Council.
