Col. Edith Nakalema, Senior Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption, emphasized the importance of patriotism and responsible citizenship in nurturing a safe and conscious generation during a public lecture at Victoria University.

She stated that lack of services is partly a result of lack of patriotism, and that public servants who fail to deliver services are not doing their job. "It's a responsibility of everybody to have the services at hand," she said.

Nakalema urged citizens to hold accountable those not doing their work, especially in government offices, and emphasized that freedom of speech should not be used to incite violence. She highlighted the importance of patriotism in maintaining stability, peace, and security, and encouraged citizens to prioritize their country's progress and transformation.

Citing Jeremiah 29:7, she urged citizens to pray for and work towards the prosperity of their country, stating that "country first" should be the guiding principle for all actions.

Dr. Lawrence Muganga, Victoria University Vice Chancellor, welcomed the lecture, saying it was a timely reminder of the importance of patriotism and responsible citizenship.

The lecture was attended by students, staff, and guests, and was part of Victoria University's efforts to promote national pride and responsible citizenship among its students.
