Munyonyo, Kampala – October 2025:

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially closed the Afro-Arab Youth Congress 2025 at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo, with a passionate call to the youth of Africa and the Arab world to embrace ideology, unity, and innovation as vital tools for peace and prosperity.

The three-day Congress, organized under the theme “Amplifying Youth Voices for Peace, Unity, and Prosperity”, brought together delegates from over 20 countries and thousands of young leaders from across Uganda. It provided a vibrant platform for young people to exchange ideas, share experiences, and build networks that promote development and collaboration between Africa and the Arab world.

In his closing remarks, President Museveni urged the youth to move beyond mere enthusiasm and focus on building a foundation grounded in clear ideological principles.

“Being youthful is biological, but leadership must be guided by ideology,” he said. “What is your ideology? What principles guide your actions? I recommend the ideology of patriotism—love your country, whichever it is, and love Africa, because you need it.”

The President emphasized that with Africa’s population currently standing at 1.5 billion and projected to reach 2.5 billion in the next 30 years, young people must understand their pivotal role in shaping the continent’s destiny.

“The future of the world lies in the Afro-Arab region. You must see yourselves as the custodians of that future,” he noted.

Throughout the Congress, discussions revolved around the transformative power of youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Panels such as “From Local Initiatives to Regional Impact” featured distinguished speakers including Col. Emmy Tibaingana Katabazi, Ms. Chido Mpemba (African Union Youth Envoy), and Dr. Mohammad Saif Rashed Aljaberi (Secretary General of the Afro-Arab Youth Council).

The event was crowned with a colorful Afro-Arab Night, celebrating the continent’s diversity through music, dance, and cultural exchange — symbolizing the unity that binds Africa and the Arab world together.

The Afro-Arab Youth Congress, organized by the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) in partnership with the Government of Uganda, continues to serve as a bridge of cooperation and dialogue among the youth of both regions, empowering them to lead with purpose, innovation, and patriotism.
