Kampala, Uganda – June 30, 2026

The Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business, Robinah Nabbanja, has commended previous Parliaments for their unwavering support towards the implementation of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government programmes, saying their contribution has been instrumental in Uganda’s socioeconomic transformation.

Speaking during the ongoing induction ceremony for Members of the 12th Parliament, Nabbanja said the collaboration between the Executive and Parliament over the years has enabled the government to implement policies and programmes that have significantly improved the country’s development trajectory.

She noted that Uganda has registered remarkable progress across various sectors of the economy since 1986, attributing the achievements to consistent legislative support and effective government programmes.

“The country has made major strides across all sectors of the economy since 1986. For example, Uganda has graduated from the category of the least developed countries to lower middle-income status,” the Prime Minister said.

Nabbanja urged the newly inducted legislators to uphold the spirit of cooperation and continue supporting government programmes aimed at accelerating national development, improving service delivery, and enhancing the welfare of Ugandans.

The induction ceremony is intended to equip Members of the 12th Parliament with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively execute their legislative, oversight, and representative roles during the new parliamentary term.
