This year’s results mark a significant shift, as UNEB implemented a new competency-based grading system aimed at assessing students beyond just aggregate scores. The updated system categorizes performance as follows:
– A – Exceptional Achievement (D1, D2 equivalent)
– B – Outstanding Performance (C3, C4 equivalent)
– C– Satisfactory Performance (C5, C6 equivalent)
– D– Basic Understanding (P7, P8 equivalent)
– E– Elementary Understanding (F9 equivalent)
UNEB and the Ministry of Education argue that the new grading approach prioritizes skills development over competition. However, some parents and educators have expressed concerns about transitioning to the revised system.
