The Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has launched its Human Rights Tribunal sessions, aimed at hearing complaints of alleged human rights violations across the country. Chaired by Hon. Mariam Wangadya, the Tribunal will conduct sessions in various regional offices throughout June.

 

 

Regional Tribunal Sittings

Tooro Sub-Region The Tribunal sat at the Fortportal Regional Office from June 2nd to 6th, 2025, addressing complaints from the region.


Busoga Region .The Tribunal will convene at the UHRC Jinja Regional Office from June 9th to 13th, 2025, to handle matters arising from the region.
 

 

Karamoja Region.Sessions will be held in Moroto from June 16th to 20th, 2025, focusing on complaints from the region.
 

Hoima.The Tribunal will sit from June 23rd to 27th, 2025, to address matters from the region.
 

West Nile.Sessions are scheduled for the first week of July at the Arua Regional Office.

 

 

Progress Update

A total of 23 matters are set to be adjudicated upon, with five decisions already rendered and several other rulings made. This initiative underscores the UHRC's commitment to promoting and protecting human rights in Uganda.¹
