 Busitema University has confirmed the appointment of Eng. Dr. Badru M. Kiggundu as its 3rd Chancellor, following an official decision by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda. The installation ceremony is scheduled for 28th November 2025 at the university’s Main Campus, where Dr. Kiggundu will also preside over the institution’s 16th Graduation Ceremony.Dr. Kiggundu arrives with a long and distinguished record in engineering, academia, and public service. Born in 1945, he studied in Uganda before pursuing higher education in the United States, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree and later a PhD in Civil Engineering, specializing in geotechnical and bituminous materials. His early academic career included research and teaching positions at the University of New Mexico and Auburn University. Upon returning to Uganda, Dr. Kiggundu became a key figure at Makerere University, serving as a senior lecturer, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and later Dean of the Faculty of Technology. His academic and research contributions span more than five decades. Beyond the university environment, Dr. Kiggundu is widely recognized for his national leadership roles. He served as Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Uganda from 2002 to 2016, overseeing several national elections. After leaving the Commission, he continued to play influential roles in national infrastructure development, chairing committees supervising major energy projects such as Karuma and Isimba dams. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and has also been appointed as a Senior Presidential Advisor on Infrastructure and Works. His expertise has made him one of the most consulted engineering professionals in Uganda. The appointment of Dr. Kiggundu as Chancellor marks a significant milestone for Busitema University. Known for his calm, meticulous approach and decades-long commitment to public service, he is expected to bring a blend of academic excellence and practical national experience to the institution. As Busitema University continues its mission of Pursuing Excellence, the installation of its new Chancellor signifies a renewed era of leadership poised to support innovation, research, and growth.

Ida Erios Nantaba, the Kayunga District Woman MP, in an effort to calm political tensions. Speaking in a humble and composed manner, Hon. Tebandeke clarified that these claims were exaggerated and fueled by campaign-season excitement. “I was raised well, and my uncle always guided me not to involve myself with older women or sugar mummies,” Tebandeke explained. “I am a happily married Christian man with twins. Marrying Nantaba is not on my priority list at all.”When asked about rumors that he had linked Nantaba to President Museveni as a “side chic,” Tebandeke dismissed the claim. “I didn’t say anything like that,” he stated. “People will always make up stories when they don’t know someone’s private life. But none of that came from me—I don’t trade in such talk.” Addressing the supposed conflict between himself and Nantaba, Tebandeke insisted that he has never attacked or wronged her in any way.“I have never done anything to her,” he said. “Our main responsibility is to serve the people of Kayunga and represent them in Parliament. But if you check the Parliament Hansard throughout this term, she is barely seen. She spends most of her time in Kampala or abroad enjoying a comfortable lifestyle and only returns during campaigns with petty cash. That approach to leadership needs to change.” Tebandeke emphasized that his energy remains focused on serving Bbale and the entire Kayunga district—not on personal drama. “I won’t marry her,” he concluded firmly. “My home is complete already, and I’m fully committed to my family.” As Kayunga’s political season continues, the mix of excitement, rumors, and bold statements remains as lively as ever.

MINISTRY OF LABOUR INTENSIFIES WORKERS' COMPENSATION EFFORTS.

 The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development is stepping up efforts to protect Uganda's workforce through Workers' Compensation, a system providing financial and medical benefits to employees injured or killed on the job.  A recent conference in Kampala highlighted the importance of protecting workers' rights, with Onzoma Apollo, Worker's Assistant Commissioner, Industrial Lessons, stressing that employers are responsible for paying all costs related to treatment, upkeep, and disabilities resulting from work-related accidents."Workers have a right to treatment and support from their employers, and it's essential that they report any injuries or diseases to their employers promptly," Onzoma Apollo said.  The conference aimed to educate workers on their rights and responsibilities, and promote a culture of safety in Ugandan workplaces.Hilda Nakagga, Head of Industrial Relations at the Ministry, emphasized the importance of Workers' Compensation, saying, "It embodies principles of equity, dignity, and justice, ensuring protection from economic and social consequences and occupational risks." The Ministry is reviewing the Workers' Compensation Act to extend protection to informal and gig economy workers and clarify employer and insurer obligations.  Labour officers are inspecting workplaces to ensure compliance and compute compensation, as part of broader efforts to strengthen social security and labour protections in Uganda. Workers are urged to prioritize their safety and well-being, and report any work-related injuries or diseases to their employers without fear. Failure to report is an offence under the law, and workers who fail to report may not receive the support they need.

 Mukono, Uganda — A joyful celebration filled with music, culture, and thanksgiving marked the graduation of 228 Top Class pupils from the three Seeta Schools branches: Seeta Kindergarten & Junior School Ntinda, Seeta Junior School Nabuti, and Seeta Junior School Mbalala. The ceremony took place at Seeta University in Mukono District. The event opened with a mass led by Rev. Fr. Duggan Mulyanti from Jinja Diocese, supported by the Catholic Chaplain of Seeta Schools. Parents, teachers, school administrators, and members of the Board of Governors attended the celebration. The ceremony was also attended by State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. J.C. Muyingo, who participated in his role as a director within the Seeta Schools leadership. In his homily, Fr. Mulyanti praised Seeta Schools for consistently giving thanks to God for the blessings upon the institutions, including Seeta University. He commended the teachers for instilling confidence, strong communication skills, and academic excellence in the pupils. During the mass, administrators of Seeta Junior Schools offered both monetary and material gifts in appreciation of the school’s journey and achievements. After the mass, pupils thrilled the audience with performances of the school anthem, cultural dances, creative acts, and Christmas-themed songs. Their confidence and talent left parents and guests impressed. The highlight of the day was the official graduation of the 228 pupils, confirming that they are ready to join Primary One. The children also expressed gratitude to teachers, parents, and school leaders who have supported them throughout their nursery education. A standout moment included a symbolic presentation of a child “boarding an airplane,” capturing the school’s philosophy that at Seeta Junior Schools, “children turn airplanes into bicycles”—a celebration of creativity, imagination, and limitless potential. Branch heads of Seeta Schools—Sister Crispin Namara, Lazarus Olupot, and Serugo Brian—thanked parents for entrusting them with their children’s early learning. Speaking on behalf of the parents, David Kusiima commended the school’s strong standards and holistic approach to education. Uganda Set to Host 2025 East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games in Kampala

 Kampala, Uganda — Uganda is set to host the 15th Edition of the East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games from 5 to 12 December 2025, with the East African Speakers’ Bureau praising Kampala’s readiness despite the short notice. The confirmation came during the 20th Meeting of the EAC Speakers’ Bureau, held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, where regional Speakers assessed the host country’s preparedness. Kenya’s Senate Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amason Kingi, lauded Uganda for “putting in place sufficient measures to host the competition,” adding that the country had stepped up quickly following a change in hosting responsibilities. Uganda’s Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, emphasized the importance of the Games beyond sports, noting that they serve as “a critical component of socialisation and cultural integration, which are key pillars in achieving political and economic federation within the East African Community.”  Somalia Assumes Key Leadership Role  The meeting also marked a significant milestone for the region as the Speaker of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Rt. Hon. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur, assumed office as Chairperson of the EAC Bureau of Speakers. Somalia’s leadership role reflects its growing integration into the EAC since formally joining the bloc.  What the Games Involve  The EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games bring together lawmakers and parliamentary staff from all member states to compete in various sporting disciplines. Katakwi— The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), through its Regional Hub in Kampala, has commended Uganda for the remarkable progress and impact achieved under the Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) Project, which the Bank has funded since 2019.The commendation was made during a final mission monitoring visit to Katakwi District, led by Dr. Issahaq Umar Iddrisu, Manager of the IsDB Regional Hub in Kampala. The mission held a briefing with district leaders and project stakeholders at the district headquarters, followed by a tour of project sites. In his remarks, Dr. Umar applauded the Government of Uganda and its implementing partners — the Ministry of Local Government, Millennium Promise Alliance, and the Microfinance Support Centre — for their strong coordination, commitment, and dedication to improving livelihoods through the LEGS Project. “Uganda stands out as a model among the countries supported by the Islamic Development Bank,” he said. “Each time we share examples of successful project implementation, Uganda features prominently.” Operational in 17 districts, including Katakwi, the LEGS Project has focused on strengthening local infrastructure and boosting livelihoods at the grassroots level. Dr. Umar particularly commended district leaders for their unwavering support to communities, which he said had translated into tangible results — including the construction of community access roads, provision of water for domestic and commercial use, and establishment of bulking and agro-processing facilities.In recognition of these achievements, Dr. Umar announced that the Islamic Development Bank had approved the second phase of the LEGS Project, which is scheduled to begin in 2026, paving the way for expanded and sustainable local economic empowerment initiatives across Uganda.“This approval is a direct result of the good work and the successes registered under the first phase of the project,” he emphasized.Implemented by the Ministry of Local Government, with funding from the Islamic Development Bank and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, the LEGS Project aims to strengthen local economic development by improving infrastructure, promoting community enterprises, and creating employment opportunities in rural districts.  As the mission concluded its field visit, the Bank’s positive feedback reaffirmed Uganda’s reputation as a leader in effective project implementation and its continued commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. He emphasized the significance of having a strong foundation in God, citing the Bible verse, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."According to Pr Haften, vision is the ability to see beyond the present moment and create something out of nothing.  He encouraged the congregation to seek wisdom from God, citing James 1:5, which says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him."Pr Haften also highlighted the importance of written instructions and clear communication in achieving success, referencing Exodus 25-31, where God provided a detailed blueprint for building the Ark of the Covenant and the tabernacle."As architects, we know that a clear plan is essential for building a successful structure," Pr Haften said. "Similarly, in life, we need to write down our vision, make it clear, and make it plain. "This divine creation makes us unique and valuable, and our lives have purpose and meaning." General York emphasized that understanding our identity in God is crucial for living a life of purpose and fulfillment. He cited Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 8:29, and Romans 12:4-5 to underscore the significance of recognizing our identity as children of God."We are predestined to be conformed to the image of God's Son, meaning God made us to be like Jesus," General York said. "Our purpose in life is derived from our identity as we discover God's will for us."General York encouraged listeners to be faithful and do their best in whatever role they have, whether it's a janitor, teacher, or soldier. Debates between supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the opposition, particularly the National Unity Platform (NUP), continue to dominate public and online discussions. While healthy political competition is part of any democracy, it is vital for the youth — who make up the majority of Uganda’s population — to reject violence and embrace peace. 1. The Power and Responsibility of the Youth  Uganda’s youth are the heartbeat of the nation. With over 70% of the population under 30, young people have the power to shape the country’s destiny. However, that power can only build the nation if it is used wisely. Riots and violent confrontations destroy the very opportunities that young people need to grow — jobs, education, and stability.  2. Lessons from Other African Nations  Ugandans must learn from the painful experiences of other African countries where political disagreements turned into devastating conflicts. In Libya, political divisions after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi led to years of war, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced.Sudan has been torn apart by rival political and military factions, turning what began as calls for reform into a humanitarian crisis.South Sudan’s independence was celebrated with hope, yet political rivalry quickly escalated into conflict, undoing years of progress.  These examples remind us that no country wins when its citizens turn against each other. Development, peace, and opportunity are always the first casualties of chaos.  3. Healthy Competition, Not Hostility  As Uganda prepares for elections, it is natural for the NRM and NUP, along with other political parties, to compete for leadership. That competition should remain peaceful, issue-based, and respectful. Political differences are healthy for democracy — violence is not.Both parties and their supporters must remember that Uganda belongs to all of us, regardless of political color. When we destroy property or fight each other in the name of politics, we harm the same nation we claim to love.  4. The True Path to Change  For young people eager for a better Uganda, the most powerful tools are not stones or riots — they are the voter’s card, the voice, and the mind.Engage constructively: Register and vote responsibly.Use social media to promote truth and unity, not hate or rumor.Participate in community peace campaigns.Hold leaders accountable through lawful, peaceful means.   5. The Call for Peace  As 2026 draws closer, every Ugandan youth should become an ambassador of peace. Our future depends on maintaining stability and protecting lives. Investors, tourists, and opportunities all thrive where peace reigns.Let’s not allow political excitement to drag us into destruction. Instead, let’s prove that Uganda’s youth are mature, informed, and peace-loving citizens ready to build, not burn.    Conclusion  Uganda’s story should not mirror those of nations that lost everything to political violence. We have the chance to show Africa — and the world — that democracy can thrive without bloodshed.No matter which political party we support, Uganda comes first.Let peace be our loudest campaign message as we head toward 2026.

Pastor Kayanja emphasized the significance of her participation, noting, “We are seeing a lot of changes that are happening in America today, and it’s a blessing to have Dr. Paula White share her insights here in Uganda.” Other keynote speakers will include Dr. Matthews, a distinguished professor from Oral Roberts University, who will lead sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern innovation. The conference will also feature discussions on fighting poverty, financial empowerment, health, and technological advancement, including topics like smart homes and smart factories—demonstrating how faith and innovation can work hand in hand to shape the future. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat in the church’s brand-new mobile stadium, where thousands are expected to gather in worship and learning each day.
