The Anti-Corruption Court has convicted and sentenced Kavuuma Ibrahim to three and a half years in prison for his role in a property fraud scheme through which he and his accomplices obtained USD 205,556, equivalent to approximately UGX 740 million, from a victim using falsified property documents.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Kavuuma to refund UGX 70 million to the victim. It also ordered the forfeiture of UGX 8,004,700, USD 2,000 and a motor vehicle recovered from him during his arrest, with the assets intended to contribute towards compensating the victim.

The case stems from an incident on July 15, 2025, when Kavuuma and his accomplices, who remain at large, allegedly used forged documents, including a certificate of title, sale agreements and transfer forms, to misrepresent ownership of a property and deceive the victim into believing that Kavuuma was its legitimate owner.

Relying on the falsified documents, the victim was deceived into parting with USD 205,556, valued at approximately UGX 740 million.

Kavuuma was subsequently arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (@AntiGraft_SH) and charged with forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining money by false pretence and money laundering.

The conviction and sentence mark a significant development in the prosecution of the property fraud case, while efforts to account for Kavuuma’s accomplices, who remain at large, are still pending.
