Wobulenzi, Luweero — The Minister of State for Higher Education, Hon. Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, has urged young people to avoid acts of political violence and instead focus on maintaining peace and unity as Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections.
Dr. Muyingo made the remarks during a meeting held at the NRM offices in Wobulenzi Town Council, where he interacted with local leaders and representatives from over 50 community and professional groups who pledged their support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 re-election bid.
The meeting was chaired by Yasin Segawa, the NRM Chairperson for Wobulenzi Town Council, who commended Minister Muyingo for his unwavering support toward strengthening the party at the grassroots level. Segawa emphasized that NRM supporters in the area are united and ready to mobilize for the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the same function, Deputy RDC for Luweero, Ann Nabukeera, applauded Minister Muyingo’s efforts in rallying residents, noting that their target is to ensure that the NRM maintains dominance in the Luweero region.
Local leaders from various associations also took an oath, pledging to mobilize more people to ensure a decisive NRM victory in their communities.
In his speech, Minister Muyingo called on Ugandans to remain patriotic, love their country, and continue supporting the NRM government, which he said has brought stability and development over the years.
He cautioned the youth against engaging in acts of violence during campaigns, advising them to instead dedicate their energy to productive work and peaceful coexistence.
“Our young people should focus on work, protect peace, and avoid chaos. Let us build the nation, not destroy it,” Dr. Muyingo emphasized.
The minister concluded the event by launching a door-to-door mobilization campaign for President Museveni’s 2026 bid and officially hoisted the NRM flag at the party offices in Wobulenzi Town Council, symbolizing renewed energy and unity within the movement.
