Amuru District – As the 2026 campaign season gains momentum, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reaffirmed that peace remains the foundation of Uganda’s transformation. While presenting part of the NRM manifesto in Amuru, the President emphasized that “without peace, there are no schools, no hospitals, no salaries, no future. Peace is the soil in which all development grows.”
The message resonated deeply with the people of Amuru, a district that has seen remarkable recovery and steady progress over the years. Reflecting on the journey, President Museveni reminded residents that the population had grown from 16,000 people in Kilak during the Constituent Assembly days to 247,000 today, a sign of improved health, stability, and livelihoods.
Water access and agricultural transformation stood out among the key achievements. In Pabbo Sub-county, over 38,000 residents now benefit from piped water, and every village has a safe water source—a major boost for community welfare and productivity.
Looking ahead, the President assured residents that government will extend piped water to more towns, complete solar-powered irrigation schemes, and build reservoirs to support year-round farming and strengthen food security.
Museveni’s message underscored that peace remains the anchor of Uganda’s continued growth — a reminder that every step of progress stems from the stability the country has built together.
