Ainebyoona Re-Arraigned in Kiboga Over Forcible Land Entry, Malicious Damage, and Assault

 Kiboga, Uganda – The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (@AntiGraft_SH), working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (@CID1_UG) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (@ODPPUGANDA), has re-arraigned Ronald Ainebyoona before the Kiboga Chief Magistrates Court on charges of forcible entry, malicious damage, and assault.  Ainebyoona, who first appeared in court on March 27, 2025, had been granted bail but later absconded, disappearing into hiding for six months. His persistent defiance of the court process led to a warrant of arrest issued on June 30, 2025. Despite this, he continued to evade justice until he was traced and re-arrested in an operation led by the Unit in collaboration with Police. Investigations revealed that on March 14, 2025, Ainebyoona, together with others still at large, violently entered land in Block 542, Plot 2, Kiboga District. The group allegedly evicted occupants, destroyed crops, houses, a fence, and animal sheds belonging to the complainant, 70-year-old Badru Mwanje, and physically assaulted people found on the land. The case stems from a directive issued by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the Head of the Unit, Brig Gen Henry Isoke, instructing him to investigate the criminal aspects surrounding the matter and ensure that the law is enforced. Following his re-arraignment, the Kiboga Chief Magistrates Court remanded Ainebyoona until October 13, 2025, as investigations and trial proceedings continue.

Breaking news City Property Dealer Kamoga Wanted Over Multiple Forgery and Land Fraud Cases

 The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has launched a manhunt for Kamoga Muhammad, a 40-year-old businessman from Bugobo-Garuga village, Wakiso District, who is wanted in connection with a series of land fraud and forgery cases. According to Police Form 53 and court documents seen by this publication, Kamoga faces 14 criminal charges under the Penal Code Act, Cap 128. These include 9 counts of forgery, 3 counts of uttering false documents, and 2 counts of obtaining land registration by false pretenses.Investigations reveal that between February and May 2021, Kamoga allegedly forged multiple land transfer forms and documents at the Wakiso Lands Office, Busiro. He is accused of purporting that the forms were signed by Mr. Bibongombo Peter and stamped by Advocate Nkomwesigo Lorna. Among the charges, police highlight that Kamoga forged transfer forms for property comprised in Busiro Block 435, covering plots 8, 96, 203–343, 345–381, 387, 426–430, 480–488, 496–505, 508–514, and 516. He is further accused of falsifying an Advocate’s Practicing Certificate, Serial No. 10960, dated 25th February 2020. On 24th September 2025, the Chief Magistrates Court of Entebbe issued a criminal summons compelling Kamoga to appear in court on 29th September 2025 at 9:00am to answer the charges. The summons, signed by Chief Magistrate Tibayeita Edgar Tusiime, was issued on the application of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). It should also be remembered that Kamoga was previously linked to the arrest and remanding of outspoken media blogger “Benson Pro,” who is known for exposing land grabbers in Uganda. Benson Pro was later released, but the incident cast a spotlight on Kamoga’s involvement in controversial land dealings. Despite the court summons, sources indicate that Kamoga has since gone into hiding, with security agencies now appealing to the public to share any information that may lead to his arrest. If convicted, Kamoga faces lengthy jail terms for forgery, uttering false documents, and fraudulently obtaining land registration.

URSB Unveils New Strategic Plan to Position Uganda as the Best Destination for Doing Business

 Kampala, September 25, 2025 — The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has officially launched its five-year Strategic Plan IV (2025/26–2029/30), a roadmap designed to transform Uganda into the region’s most attractive hub for business and investment. The plan, approved by the National Planning Authority, is anchored on the national theme “Positioning Uganda as the Best Destination for Doing Business”. It aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040, the National Development Plan IV, as well as global and regional frameworks including the UN 2030 Agenda, the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the EAC Vision 2050.  Building on Past SuccessesThe new strategy builds on the achievements of Strategic Plan III, which saw URSB record significant progress. Key milestones included: A 55.22% increase in Non-Tax Revenue collections, reaching UGX 107.12 billion.A rise in business registrations and insolvency filings.The digitalisation of services through the Online Business Registration System (OBRS).Reforms in commercial laws that boosted investor confidence.Issuance of Uganda’s first Geographical Indication certificate, for Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon Coffee.  These results have strengthened URSB’s role as a driver of institutional transformation and business facilitation.  Leaders Speak OutSpeaking at the launch, Mr. Moses Kaggwa, Acting Director of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, described the plan as critical to Uganda’s industrialisation and job creation agenda:“This Strategic Plan aligns seamlessly with the Fourth National Development Plan and Vision 2040. Its UGX 552.78 billion resource framework must be matched with disciplined implementation and strategic resource mobilisation.” Mr. Robert Kasande, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, praised URSB’s track record, noting that over the last five years, 90% of targeted reforms were achieved, including amendments to the Companies Act and the Insolvency Act. URSB’s Board Chairman, Amb. Francis Butagira, reaffirmed the institution’s vision: “Our mandate is clear—to make Uganda the destination of choice for doing business. This new Plan is about formalising opportunity and driving transformation.”Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, pointed to strong growth in registrations, averaging 21% annually, as proof of URSB’s growing relevance: “This Strategic Plan represents both renewal and continuity. Lutwama Charged Over Fraudulent Land Transactions Involving Widow’s Property In Mityana

 The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (@AntiGraft_SH), working jointly with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (@CID1_UG) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (@ODPPUGANDA), has charged Lutwama Isaac Mugandazi over alleged fraudulent land dealings in Mityana District.Lutwama appeared before the Mityana Chief Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with five counts including: Fraudulent procurement of a certificate of titleForgeryUttering false documentsMaking a false declaration in a land matterConspiracy to commit a felony   Allegations According to court documents, between April and July 2019, Lutwama, together with others still at large, allegedly forged and presented powers of attorney purporting to have been issued by Najjemba Christine, an 83-year-old widow.The prosecution contends that Lutwama and his associates conspired with officials at the Mityana Ministry Zonal Office (MZO) to fraudulently acquire certificates of title for land located in Busujju Block 56, covering Plots 249, 113, 106, 100, 121, 125, 126, 122, 70, 112, 114, and 101. It is further alleged that Lutwama went ahead to sell a portion of the land belonging to Najjemba without her knowledge or consent. Court Decision Lutwama was remanded to prison until October 25, 2025, as investigations continue and his co-accused remain at large. The Anti-Corruption Unit emphasized that the case reflects the government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens, especially widows and the elderly, from land grabbing and fraudulent transactions.

Bank of Uganda Launches E-Supervision Project to Modernize Financial Oversight

 Kampala, Uganda – September 22, 2025 — The Bank of Uganda (BoU) has officially launched the E-Supervision (SupTech) Project, a groundbreaking regulatory technology initiative aimed at transforming financial sector supervision in the country. The SupTech Project will leverage automation, data standardization, and advanced analytics to enable faster, preventive, and more informed oversight of financial institutions. Officials say the move is designed to improve compliance, strengthen trust, and enhance stability within Uganda’s financial system. Speaking at the launch, BoU Governor Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego hailed the project as a “transformational step toward smarter, faster, and more transparent regulation.” He underscored, however, that while technology provides powerful tools, its success will depend on collaboration with financial institutions, regulators, fintechs, and development partners. “SupTech will enhance our ability to anticipate risks, enforce compliance, and ensure a more resilient financial system. But technology alone is not enough—it is through partnership and cooperation that we will succeed,” Dr. Atingi-Ego said. The launch event attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from commercial banks, fintech companies, regulatory agencies, and development partners—a demonstration of the collective commitment to shaping Uganda’s digital financial future. With this initiative, the Bank of Uganda is laying the foundation for a smarter regulatory ecosystem—one that promotes transparency, builds market confidence, and positions the country’s financial system to thrive in the digital age.

Seasoned Journalist Ssekadde Samuel Emerges Top Contender for NUP Card in Bamunanika

 Kampala – The race for the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket in Bamunanika Constituency has taken a new twist as seasoned journalist Ssekadde Samuel, popularly known as Munaluweero, stands out as the most favored candidate after the vetting exercise held yesterday at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavule. Ssekadde’s bid has been boosted by his deep grassroots support and a solid track record of advocating for the common citizen. Unlike other aspirants, his popularity is not built on splashing money but on years of service, communication, and connection with the people. Stronger Chances over IncumbentThe incumbent MP, Hon. Robert Ssekitoleko, has faced criticism from party structures for what has been termed as underperformance and lack of loyalty to NUP leadership. One youthful aspirant has drawn suspicion after spending lavishly in party activities, with whispers suggesting his funding could be traced to the ruling establishment.  The People’s Hope Ssekadde’s influence, humility, and connection with ordinary citizens position him as a strong pillar for the NUP cause. His entry into Parliament, many believe, would ensure that the voices of Bamunanika residents are finally heard at the national stage. As the vetting dust settles, the political atmosphere in Bamunanika grows intense. But for many party faithful, Ssekadde Samuel “Munaluweero” already represents the future – a leader with credibility, loyalty, and unmatched grassroots appeal.

Making History: St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde Poised to Assemble Uganda’s First School-Built Vehicle

 Mukono, Uganda — Excitement is in the air at St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde, as its students push the boundaries of innovation and education. Through the #Cyprogati project, this school is on the verge of becoming the first school in Uganda to assemble a vehicle — a groundbreaking achievement that blends theory and hands-on learning in unprecedented ways.  Bridging Education and Innovation Founded in 1996 by Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde (formerly Bishop Cyprian Lwanga High School) is a private mixed boarding school offering both O-Level and A-Level education. Its mission: to provide quality education and moral formation for self-reliant citizens. The #Cyprogati initiative is a vivid demonstration of that mission in action.  Although details of the vehicle project are still being finalized, the school’s leadership remarks that this is more than a technical feat — it’s a chance to teach teamwork, engineering fundamentals, problem solving, pride in creation, and to prepare students for careers in STEM and beyond. Sports & Co-Curricular StrengthsSt. Cyprian isn’t only excelling in classrooms — athletics, team sports, and co-curricular activities are central to the school’s identity: The school competes strongly in basketball, football, volleyball, netball, and even chess.  In 2025, the boys’ basketball team won the USSSA Mukono Zone championship with a 42-10 victory over Seeta Naama.  At the East African Secondary School Games in Kakamega, Kenya, St. Cyprian’s boys’ basketball team also registered a strong win over Kibuli SS, 68-38.  Regionally, St. Cyprian has been consistent — they have won the Mukono Region Basketball championship multiple times.    These sporting achievements do more than bring trophies; they build character, discipline, teamwork, school spirit, and help students learn to aim high both in sports and life.What the #Cyprogati Project Means  With the vehicle assembly project, students will gain hands-on experience in mechanics, design, teamwork, problem solving, project planning, and technical skills that are rarely offered at school level. Business Tycoon Hamis Kiggundu Donates UGX 200 Million to Boost Kampala City Festival

 Kampala — Prominent businessman and philanthropist Dr. Hamis Kiggundu, popularly known as Ham, has donated UGX 200 million towards this year’s Kampala City Festival, scheduled for October 5, 2025. The contribution was unveiled today, with Sharifah Buzeki, Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), saying the money will help amplify efforts to promote tourism, trade, and a clean, healthy city. “This generous support from Dr. Hamis Kiggundu will go a long way in ensuring the Kampala City Festival is not only memorable but also contributes meaningfully to urban development and the welfare of our people,” remarked Buzeki.    Who Is Hamis Kiggundu & What Has He Done Before?  Dr. Hamis Kiggundu is the CEO of Ham Group of Companies and founder of the Ham Foundation. He is known for his business ventures in real estate, commerce, and for various philanthropic works in Uganda. Below are some of his notable contributions:Covid-19 Relief Efforts: In 2021, Kiggundu donated UGX 530 million to help purchase 15,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Part of those were for employees and tenants under his companies; the rest were for the general public.  Food Relief During Lockdowns: In 2020, through his Ham Foundation, he gave UGX 100 million in cash to support food relief programs for vulnerable Ugandans impacted by COVID-19 lockdowns.  Greening Kampala: Earlier this year, he donated 100,000 royal palm trees to support the Kampala Greening Campaign. The initiative aims to beautify the city and improve its environmental health.  Recognition & Awards:Dr. Kiggundu was awarded a Professional Doctorate in Global Leadership and Management by the European International University (EIU) for his contributions to business leadership.   He has authored several books, including Success and Failure Based on Reason and Reality and Reason as the World Masterpiece.   His works have won business‐motivation book awards, and he has been recognized for his impact on Kampala’s socioeconomic development, especially among disadvantaged communities.  Nakivubo Stadium Renovation: Under his Ham Enterprises, Kiggundu partnered with the government to renovate the Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, which has been upgraded to international standards.      Why This New Donation MattersBoosting Local Culture & Economy: The Kampala City Festival is one of Uganda’s key cultural and economic events. Hon. Tebandeke Warns Against Costly Commercial Loan for Water and Sanitation Project

Kampala – A sharp debate has emerged in Parliament over the government’s proposal to borrow for the Strategic Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project – Phase II, with Hon. Charles Tebandeke (Bbale County) cautioning against what he termed a “costly burden” on taxpayers. The sitting was presided over by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, who guided the House through the heated deliberations. Presenting the minority report, Hon. Tebandeke acknowledged that the loan’s intentions—to improve access to clean water and sanitation in targeted towns—are noble. However, he stressed that the financing mechanism must prioritize concessionality to protect future generations from unsustainable debt. “While the project has good motives of enhancing service delivery, borrowing over Shs120 billion from Standard Chartered Bank on purely commercial terms will be extremely costly for Ugandan taxpayers,” he said. The government is seeking to borrow €183.3 million and an additional Shs120.3 billion from the domestic market to finance the project. The Chairperson of the Committee on National Economy, Hon. John Bosco Ikojo, presented the main committee report supporting the loan request. On his part, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Henry Musasizi, defended the borrowing plan, arguing that the project will significantly improve the quality of water supply and sanitation facilities in the selected towns. The debate, under the stewardship of Deputy Speaker Tayebwa, reflects a broader tension in Uganda’s fiscal policy—balancing urgent infrastructure and service delivery needs against the long-term risks of debt sustainability.

Speaker Among Meets Regional Counterparts, Confirms Uganda to Host East African Games

Kampala – The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, today engaged with her regional counterparts, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, and Rt. Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana, Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly, at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort.The high-level discussions focused on the critical role of National Assemblies in advancing East African Community (EAC) integration. Speaker Among emphasized that Uganda, under the stewardship of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has consistently championed the cause of regional unity and socio-economic transformation. The meeting also highlighted the upcoming East African Games, with Speaker Among confirming that Uganda will host this year’s edition starting December 5th, 2025. “We are honored to host the East African Games here in the Pearl of Africa.
