Tragedy! Ambulance Driver dumps it with dead Body in Jinja inside

🇺🇬| Jinja Police are searching for the driver of an ambulance (UBR 148W) who drove recklessly from Iganga to Jinja. Despite being stopped at Kakira checkpoint, the driver refused to comply and was later blocked at Wanyange.   He abandoned the ambulance, which had 10 occupants & a deceased person on board, and fled the scene.The occupants have since hired an alternative vehicle to continue their journey, while the ambulance has been impounded at Jinja Central Police Station. The driver will face charges once apprehended.  This incident serves as a reminder that ambulances are meant for emergency medical transportation & should not be used to claim right of way or transport deceased individuals.We urge all drivers to exercise caution & respect the intended purpose of ambulances.🖊️ _*Traffic Police Spokesperson*_

NFA Cancels 112 Illegal Land Titles in Central Forest Reserves

NFA Cancels 112 Illegal Land Titles in Central Forest Reserves The National Forestry Authority has Cancelled 112 illegal land titles located within Central Forest Reserves (CFRs) in Uganda, marking a significant step in protecting the country’s forested lands. The titles, mostly from the districts of Central Uganda such as Kampala, Kayunga, Mukono, Jinja, Masaka, Entebbe and Mpigi, were fraudulently issued on government-protected forest land. This decisive action is part of NFA's mandate to manage and protect Central Forest Reserves, which cover a total of 1,265,741 hectares across Uganda. The NFA remains committed to preventing land encroachment and illegal activities that threaten these vital environmental resources.  The NFA and Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development is scrutinizing another 700 illegal land titles also identified for cancellation. Aldon Walukamba, the Communications and Public Relations Manager (CPRM) at NFA, has urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious of unscrupulous individuals who create false documents and illegally issue land titles on forest land. "We call on the public to be aware of illegal land dealers who fabricate documents and positions with the intention of creating fraudulent land titles on government forest land, duping unsuspecting clients of their time and money," said Walukamba. He also called upon district local governments and other relevant government agencies to refrain from processing or issuing land titles without first consulting the NFA for accurate information on forest boundaries. “We implore district local governments and other government agencies not to process or issue land titles without seeking information from the NFA,” Walukamba emphasized. The NFA urges the public to report any suspicious land transactions within Central Forest Reserves by contacting its toll-free line 0800264036. The Authority is committed to taking swift and firm action to protect Uganda’s forest reserves for the benefit of future generations.

Just in Desire Luzinda set to introduce Singer Levixone to her parents

The Kwanjula will reportedly take place in Katalemwa, Matugga, at Desire Luzinda’s parents’ home. Sources reveal that Luzinda flew back to Uganda early this week to prepare for the event.  For years, fans have speculated about a deeper connection between the two gospel singers, fueled by their heartfelt performances at each other’s events and affectionate social media interactions. Levixone describes Luzinda as a “wonderful woman of God” and a “tremendous blessing” in his life, while Luzinda calls Levixone a “man of God.”In an interview earlier this year, Levixone revealed that wedding preparations were underway, but financial challenges had delayed the big day.  “People should get ready—it’s going to be a celebration like no other,” he said with excitement. “I want this event to last at least three days so that everyone, especially those from the Kosovo slums where I grew up, can be part of it. This is not just about me; it’s about giving back and sharing joy with the community.” He added, “The wedding isn’t far off. DRC Crisis: Gen Kainerugaba Joins EAC Military Chiefs for Talks in Nairobi

 The Chief of Defense Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, arrived in Nairobi this morning to attend a high-level meeting of East African Community (EAC) military chiefs. The gathering aims to address the escalating crisis in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where ongoing conflict has threatened regional security.  Gen Kainerugaba’s is accompanied by Major General James Birungi, Chief of Defense Intelligence and Security, and other senior UPDF officials. The meeting brings together defense chiefs from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, the DRC, South Sudan, and Somalia to discuss strategies for restoring peace and security in the region.In his remarks, the CDF highlighted the importance of collective efforts in combating regional challenges.“Our collective focus on the security challenges in the Democratic Republic of the Congo exemplifies the cooperative spirit that binds the East African Community,” Gen Kainerugaba noted.   The chiefs’ meeting follows directives from the Joint EAC-SADC Heads of State Summit held on February 8, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. During the summit, regional leaders tasked the Chiefs of Defense Forces with providing technical guidance on resolving the crisis in eastern DRC, where the M23 rebel group has seized control of key cities, including Goma and Bukavu.    Eastern DRC has long been a hotspot for conflict, with multiple armed groups, including the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), exacerbating the instability. The ADF, a terrorist organization with origins in Uganda, has been a persistent threat despite joint efforts by the UPDF and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) to neutralize it. According to the UPDF, the ADF’s capabilities have now been significantly degraded, with only scattered remnants operating in the dense forests of the DRC.In a related development, the UPDF recently achieved a strategic milestone by entering Bunia, the capital of Ituri Province, in a coordinated operation with the FARDC. The move was met with widespread approval from local residents, who have endured years of violence and instability. The Nairobi meeting represents a critical step in fostering regional collaboration to address the DRC crisis. As military leaders convene, the focus remains on crafting a unified approach to dismantle rebel groups, restore stability, and pave the way for lasting peace in the region.

UGANDA TO HOST MIDLE EAST-AFRICA DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION SUMMIT .  Introduction.The Middle East Africa Digital Transformation Summit (MEA-DTS) is an annual forum for key actors from the Middle East and Africa geared towards exploring transformative digital technologies, to drive socio-economic growth and development. Uganda will host the 2025 edition of the Summit, which is being co-organised by the COMESA Business Council, Ministry of ICT & National Guidance and Hi-Pipo, a leading entity in ICT and financial inclusion in Africa.   The MEA-DTS, 2025, is in line with Uganda’s Vision 2040, EAC Vision 2050, Africa Agenda, 2063 and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  The summit will explore emerging technologies for sustainable and impactful development. In so doing, the proceedings will shed a spotlight on technologies for rapid socio-economic transformation with enhanced livelihoods in Africa and the Middle East. MEA-DTS 2025’s Chief-Host.The MEA-DTS will be hosted at the Kampala Serena Hotel from 25th to 27th June 2025, with H.E. President Y.K. Museveni as the Chief Host. Uganda will host the summit under the theme; Driving Digital Transformation for a Connected and Inclusive MEA Region.  We shall have wide-ranging sessions on wide-ranging sub-themes like emerging digital innovations, artificial intelligence, block-chain, ICTs for smart cities, infrastructure, digital health and education, financial services, and best practices in policy and regulation, among others.The Summit & Africa’s Development Agenda. The MEA-DTS is consistent with Uganda Vision 2040, where we have ICTs as pivotal to transforming Ugandan from a predominantly agricultural community to a modern and prosperous country. Further, the summit supports the EAC Vision 2050, by leveraging ICTs for value addition in critical sectors like agriculture, tourism, minerals, oil & gas, and knowledge, to create more jobs and boost livelihoods.  The summit will champion digital technologies that facilitate enhanced economic transformation and regional competitiveness. It will enrich Africa and the Middle East’s contribution to SDGs, such as SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).(d) Objectives of MEA Summit, 2025.The objectives of the MEA Summit, 2025, include:  Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and investors to collaborate on driving digital transformation across various sectors.• Showcasing advanced digital solutions and fin-tech innovations that can effectively address the socio-economic challenges in the MEA region. Discussing strategies and solutions to enhance financial inclusion and ensure access to financial services for underserved populations. Highlighting the role of digital technologies in fostering economic growth, improving public services, and enhancing overall quality of life.• Fast-tracking investment and innovation support through collaboration among partners across Africa, the Middle-East, and beyond.(e) Key Activities of the MEA-DTS, 2025.Besides the Key-Note Address, the forum will have inspiring talks by industry leaders, panel discussions, interactive sessions with experts, workshops, masterclasses and hands-on sessions. These are envisaged to build skills, demonstrate innovative solutions and technologies and enable participants to connect and collaborate. Ugandan Delegation Visits Philippines Migrant Workers Office in RiyadhMr. Kayonde Abdallah, President of Migrant Workers' Voice and International Director for Ugandan Migrant Workers, along with Mr. Abdulatif Kaloddo, Chief Coordinator for Uganda Labour Companies, conducted a courtesy visit to the Philippines Migrant Workers Office (PMWO) in Riyadh. The delegation met with Mr. Antonio M. Mutuc, JR, the head of the Department of Labor at the PMWO.  Among the key points of Discussion:The meeting centered on the Philippines' successful model for migrant worker welfare administration (OWWA), leadership development, and rights protection. Specific topics included:Sustainability of the Philippine Program:Examining the long-term viability of the Philippines' welfare programs for its nationals in the Gulf States.   Separation of Labor and Consular Departments Understanding how the Philippines effectively manages labor disputes through the separation of labor and consular functions.  Financial Investment in Welfare:Recognizing the significant investment of approximately $1Million USD per month by the Philippines in welfare management for its workers in Saudi Arabia.  Migrant Worker Contributions: Highlighting the financial contributions of Filipino migrant workers that support welfare programs.Among others   Emphasis on Government SupportMr. Mutuc emphasized that the Philippines' success in supporting its over 1 million workers in Saudi Arabia is due to a dedicated budget, the political will of the government, and the contributions of the workers themselves in form of a Provident Fund.These resources enable the Philippines to provide a safety net for workers facing risks, including access to loans, social benefits, insurance, and death/accidental benefits through a Provident Fund.Implications for Uganda  With approximately 200,000 Ugandan migrant workers in Saudi Arabia, the visit aimed to glean insights from the Philippines' experience to improve the welfare and protection of Ugandan workers in the region. The discussions focused on strategies that Uganda could adopt to better support its workforce abroad, drawing from the Philippines' established framework and resources.  The president is in Saudi for a special Visibility Visit, follow up and Support for Ugandans in distress and the sick aiding them return home.

Tayebwa Asks EU to Delist Uganda from Anti-Money Laundering Grey List

  Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has urged the European Union Parliament to expedite the process of removing Uganda from its anti-money laundering and terrorism financing grey list.  Uganda has been on the list since 2016. Tayebwa made the request while meeting the Deputy President of the European Union Parliament, Antonella Sberna in Brussels, Belgium on Wednesday.    Over the years, Uganda has amended several laws to meet the delisting requirements. The most recent amendment was made this month to the Anti-Money Laundering Act, which now excludes non-governmental organizations (NGOs), churches, and other charitable organizations from the list of accountable entities. “Parliament, for the first time, amended seven laws in two weeks because we were rushing to meet the requirements,” Tayebwa told his EU Parliament counterpart. While the EU Commission’s department overseeing anti-money laundering issues acknowledges that Uganda has met the necessary requirements, only the EU Parliament has the authority to officially delist the country.   The EU considers the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list when creating its own. Uganda was removed from the FATF grey list in February last year, but remains on the EU’s list.   Uganda’s delisting requires the passage of a resolution by the EU Parliament. However, the resolution includes six countries, only four of which have met the delisting requirements.  “The European Union Commission has indicated its support for splitting the resolution so that the four compliant countries can be removed. We can not continue paying for the sins of those who have not complied. However, we were informed that the European Parliament rejected this proposal,” Tayebwa said during the meeting. He added: “Madam President, I have a specific request for you—to push the European Parliament to split the resolution so that countries that have complied can be removed from the grey list.” Tayebwa explained that being on the grey list negatively impacts trade and investment. Uganda currently has a trade surplus with the EU, which stood at $130.67 million (UGX 478 billion) in 2024. He noted that during a recent meeting, EU investors and ambassadors told President Museveni that delisting Uganda would allow them to access cheaper and more attractive funding to invest in Uganda. Paul Omara, the Otuke County legislator, who was part of the delegation, highlighted that Uganda’s presence on the grey list affects its credit rating by agencies such as Moody’s, making it harder to access credit from multilateral organizations and global banks.   “Uganda will only be able to access credit at higher interest rates,” he explained. Uganda’s Ambassador to Belgium, Mirjam Blaak, echoed similar concerns, stating that investors have repeatedly urged her to push for Uganda’s delisting. “I have met companies interested in Uganda’s tourism sector, but they say, banks refuse to provide guarantees because Uganda is still on the grey list,” she explained. *Caution on EUDR* During the discussion, Tayebwa also called for further scrutiny of the Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products (EUDR), a law designed to ensure that products entering EU markets do not contribute to deforestation anywhere in the world. He argued that in Uganda and other developing countries, the law could disproportionately harm the poorest communities.  For instance, the European Union is the main market for Uganda’s coffee, which is primarily produced by smallholder farmers. “This law will severely impact small-scale farmers in Uganda and Africa. Such non-tariff barriers will hit the poorest of the poor the hardest,” Tayebwa said.

Naye Dr Besigye Bamukwatila ki ? President Museveni Responds to Ugandans demanding His Release.

 Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu.I have seen the concern by some Ugandans regarding the remanding of Dr. Besigye for the very serious offences, he is alleged to have been planning. If you want a stable country, the more correct question, should be: “Naye Dr.Besigye bamukwatila ki? Why was Dr.Besigye arrested?” The answer to that is a quick trial so that facts come out. Otherwise, you are promoting insecurity which is very dangerous for the country. Nobody in the world can easily give us lectures on reconciliation and forgiveness because that is part of our doctrine right from the 1960s.   However, our strategy and doctrine are also based on accountability by the mistake makers ─ especially those who kill Ugandans. We are now able to remember Janani Luwum, Benedicto Kiwanuka, Kiingo Chemonges, Edward Mutesa, etc., moving through a peaceful Uganda and travelling on good tarmac roads, because the freedom fighters sacrificed themselves and defeated Idi Amin and all the other killers.   We are not for vengeance but the danger of the killers must be removed. Therefore, the correct answer in the matter of Dr. Besigye is a quick trial.Who slowed down the trial process? It is the Courts that pointed out some gaps in the Military Courts and they ordered the transfer of the cases to Civilian Courts.   The concerned People are, therefore, working on two fronts. Transfer the files to the Civilian Courts from the Military Courts and the Gov’t and the legislators to close the gaps in the Military Courts. If you are innocent, why do you not demand for a quick trial so that you can prove your innocence and expose those who are “persecuting” you instead of demanding bail, forgiveness, as if serious crime is also entitled to holidays?  On the issue of sickness, there is, first of all, a Gov’t hospital in the Prison. Besides, Dr. Besigye’s personal doctors have been visiting him and even taking him to private clinics. If there was need for any additional medical care, the Gov’t would be advised.    However, in this case, Dr. Besigye, was on hunger strike. That is part of the cause for his weakness that we could see in the pictures that were in the Newspapers. Is that not unprincipled blackmail? How can you be accused of serious crimes and, then, your response is hunger strike to generate sympathy for getting bail, etc.? Why don’t you demand a quick trial?  St Kizito High School Namugongo, a christian founded school named after the youngest christian martyr Kizito Omuto once again proved to be one of the country’s most dependable secondary schools after they excelled in the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)  exams just as has been the case in the previous couple of years.  With results for the 2024 UCE released on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 at State Lodge, Nakasero, Kampala, the Namugongo based school, St,Kizito has emerged as a beacon of academic excellence, showcasing remarkable achievement in the UCE under the newly introduced Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).  Shortly after the UCE results were made public, the head teacher of the school, Mr. Ezekiel Kazibwe, told our reporter that the school had achieved these greatest results due to the multi- stakeholder’s efforts . Kazibwe linked high performance to students’ discipline, God-fearing, and teamwork among the staff and named some of the best students; Ssemujju Terry, Kwagala Esther,Bufambu Emmanuel, Ayella Reagan, Muwanguzi Arthur, Ntudde Babrah ,revealing that all students passed in result 1. “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements,” said Kazibwe. “Their exceptional performance is a testament to their resilience and determination, as well as the unwavering support of our dedicated teachers and parents.” Over the last 25 years since its establishment in 1998, St. Kizito High School Namugongo has maintained its position as a centre of academic excellence in Wakiso district, Kira Municipality, Central Uganda and the entire nation.  While striving to make secondary education accessible to the community and the nation, St. Kizito High School Namugongo consistently works to provide a truly holistic well rounded equality education enabling the students to unleash their full potential and fit in the highly competitive education environment. The school is also open to learners of other religious convictions since they provide a non-discriminatory approach.It should be remembered that early this year ,President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recognized the 2025 winners of the Zayed Sustainability Prize , with Uganda proudly being represented by St Kizito High School Namugongo after it emerged among the three finalists in sub-Saharan Africa.The school was one of the three finalists in the whole of Sub-Saharan Africa in the Global High Schools Category from the 6000 schools that contested for the award worldwide.   With a passion for knowledge, a commitment to excellence, and a spirit of innovation, St.Kizito empowers students to reach their full potential through their diverse culture and Practical Skills Development which enables them to easily adapt to the new curriculum.Over the years, they’ve evolved and grown, always dedicated to fostering academic excellence, character development, and a commitment to making a positive impact on our community.   The school has  several Projects including: Making Reusable Sanitary Pads; Bakery and Cookery;Production of Toothpaste and Mouthwash;Composting and Fertilizer Production; Black Soldier Fly Rearing; Post-Harvest Preservation; Quality-Check of Eggs; Poultry Farming and Rabbit Rearing; Liquid Soap and Bar Soap Making; Candle Making with Mosquito Repellant Candles; Art and Craft; Fashion and Design.   The school’s arrangement aims at providing to the learners 21st Century skills which include; critical thinking, creativity, collaboration or teamwork, communication, information literacy, ICT, and flexibility. Out of 359,417 candidates registered for the exams, an impressive 98.05 percent (or 350,146 candidates) qualified for the UCE certificate. This high success rate reflects both the effectiveness of the CBC and the resilience of students and educators in adapting to the new system.  The results were classified into three categories. Result 1 represented candidates who met all certification requirements, including completing continuous assessment, submitting project work, and sitting for all compulsory subjects. These students received their UCE certificates with detailed transcripts reflecting their performance. Result 2 was designated for candidates who missed key requirements, such as failing to sit for core subjects or neglecting project work, while Result 3 applied to those who scored an elementary grade (E) across all subjects, demonstrating a lack of basic competency.
