Jubilations As Deputy Speaker Establishes Tayebwa first Class Radio Station Tayari FM in Ruhinda North Details In.

Official launch of 94.0 Tayari F.M. in Bitereko Sub-County, Ruhinda North Constituency, Mitooma District  State Minister for National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga, launched 94.0 F.M—a radio station dedicated to driving community development in Western Uganda.This radio station is owned by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa, the Member of Parliament for Ruhinda North Constituency.    At the launch yesterday, Tayebwa said, "We established this radio station through the 'Taru Foundation,' investing in top-quality equipment to ensure it becomes one of the best stations in the region."Tayebwa said the main goal of opening the station is to educate and empower people.   "I encourage local district officials to use this platform to raise awareness about government programs in education, agriculture, health, and other key sectors," he added.

State Minister for Higher Education Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo verifies his particulars in the NRM Yellow Book

The State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo, today verified his particulars in the NRM Yellow Book at Sekamuli Parish, Bamunanika Sub-county, Luwero District.   The minister encouraged all NRM members and those interested in joining the ruling party to take advantage of the remaining two days to update and verify their details in both the Yellow Book and the National Electoral Commission register to ensure their participation in the upcoming general elections.   During the exercise, the minister witnessed the registration of Mr. Sebalulu Lawrence, a former Democratic Party member, who officially declared his support for NRM ahead of the elections.   Today marks the third day of the second phase of the NRM membership update, which is set to conclude tomorrow with village barazas across the country.  Muyingo recently announced that he will contest for Bamunanika member of parliament position    1421 👁️ 👁️ views…

Breaking news! Uganda ISO Boss Gen Oluka has died details in

Brigadier-General Charles Oluka, the the Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has died.   What you need to know  Gen Oluka took over ISO in October 2020 from Col Frank Bagyenda  had been battling with heart complications, sources said.   His death was confirmed by military sources, including Deputy Defence spokespersons Col Deo Akiiki.   Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda said Oluka died at Doctor's Hospital Sseguku along Entebbe Road where he had been taken this evening.  This is developing Story we keep you Updated.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has empharsized the need of prioritising teaching of science courses as a solution to unemployment in Uganda.    This was contained in a message delivered on his behalf by the Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah at the 5th graduation Ceremony for Valley University of Science and Technology in Bushenyi this afternoon."The Problem of unemployment among the educated youth is largely because students are offering courses that are not marketable" President Museveni reiterated.   He said the demand for doctors, Nurses, Engeneers, Science teachers is very high compared to the number of graduates in such marketable careers. He calls upon teaching institutions to adress the mismatch between University curriculum and the job market as a solution to growing unemployment numbers.   A total of 857 students have been awarded with Diplomas, Bachelors and Postgraduate Diplomas.Valley University of Science and Technology Bushenyi is a private university.

Vice President Jessica Alupo listed among top 100 most influential Women on the African continent

  AFRICA: Uganda’s Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo has been listed among the most Influential African women who are breaking barriers in their respective fields and inspiring transformational change in their communities and across the continent.Alupo was announced by Avance Media, Africa’s leading Public Relations and Rating Firm during her (Avance Media) 6th edition of its highly anticipated 2024 list of most Influential African women on the continent.  Representing 32 African countries, the 2024 list highlights the diversity and impact of African leaders, with Nigeria leading with 22 honorees, followed by Kenya with 12, South Africa with 7, and Rwanda with 5.  The list also features female presidents, six female vice presidents, one prime minister, one deputy united nations secretary-general, and one deputy chairperson of the African union commission.The honorees span an array of sectors, including business, diplomacy, governance, entertainment, media sports, philanthropy, and more.  Among the top nohorees are Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-general of the World Trade organization, H.E Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of Tanzania, Angelique Kidjo, the Grammy-winning artist and activist, Fariba Nabourema, Togolese activist and Bitcoin advocate, and senator Dr. Rasha Kelej, the CEO of Merck Foundation. According to VP Alupo doubles as woman MP for Katakwi district, these achievements mark a historic milestone for women in leadership across the continent and in global governance, showcasing Africa as a ring force for gender equity and empowerment. Selection of the 2024 list was based on criteria such as excellence in leadership and performance, personal accomplishments, a commitment to sharing knowledge, breaking the status quo, and exemplifying the qualities of an accomplished African women. Last year, President Yoweri Museveni feted VP Alupo with the 'Most Excellent Order of the Pearl of Africa' award which is the highest civilian honour in Uganda. It was established in 2001 under the National Honours and Awards Act.  Alupo joined the distinguished list of African leaders who accolade, including Tanzanian former leaders Julius Nyerere (posthumous) and Jakaya Kikwete, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and Mozambican former President Armando Guebuza. The honour is reserved for heads of state, government leaders, and individuals who have made significant contributions to Uganda's socioeconomic development.   During the awarding ceremony, president Museveni praised Alupo's resilience and dedication to serving the nation.He specifically highlighted her efforts in empowering women, recognizing her as a beacon of dedication.   The president further said, that Alupo's dedication to Uganda and her impactful work in empowering women have earned her this distinguished recognition, cementing her status as a prominent figure in the nation's leadership landscape.   Alupo has on many occasions been invited to present papers during high profile International conferences, the most recent one being the 4th Eurasian Women Forum in Saint Petersburg Russia. Government constructs a 3 classroom block for Mpigi UMEA Primary School

Mpigi  district Local government constructs a 3 classroom  block for Mpigi UMEA Primary School. In addition, two 10,000 liter water  tanks  were installed as part of the project. The building will accommodate 150 students and the construction for this project was funded by Government of Uganda through the adhock transition development grant.   Mpigi UMEA Primary School is located in Mpigi town along Mpigi Kabasanda road.Staff from the Ministry of Local Government (MOLG)  toured the school on Thursday 22nd January, 2025, to appraise themselves with the services  offered  by the district to the community.  According to the contractor of this magnificent Strong Building from Durkan Group Holdings-smc Ltd says “We have worked on number of successful projects and this is among them,we can assure to the public and government that this building will last for more than 100 years Pleading to Users handle it very well”  The MOLG team highlighted the benefits of  proper planning, budgeting  and   procurement in allocating resources to get the necessary services to the people.    The team from MOLG was led by  Johnson Musinguzi, Assistant Commissioner,  Procurement and Inspection Department. Musinguzi advised the district procurement staff to always ensure that the procurement plans are aligned to the annual budget and work plans. “Avoid copying and pasting when preparing bidding documents. You should be specific on what is required.”  he said. He emphasized the importance of carrying out due diligence on the bidding companies to verify the information received.   The team  explained the  need to strengthen the monitoring  and inspection of the projects  to identify  gaps and address  them on time. “The quality of work cost and the time of delivery or completion should never be compromised”. he said.Ms. Edith Namayenga the Chief Administrative Officer for Mpigi District, was concerned about the low bidder turn up especially for contracts below 10 million that should be reserved for the disadvantaged groups such as women and the disabled .   She attributed this partly  to the electronic procurement system(EGP) which most people in this category are not able to use. “Most of them don’t have access to smart phones, computers or internet.” She said. Namayenga  appreciated  MOLG for creating a friendly environment to enable the district staff to openly discuss their work and address their challenges.What’s unique about Mpigi?Mpigi  is located in central Uganda and is one of the biggest and oldest districts in the country. According to the National Population Census, 2024, Mpigi district has a population of 336,690 people. Majority of  the people are predominantly farmers.     Mpigi's biggest tourist attraction is  the equator crossing at Kayabwe on Masaka road. It is a home to over 200 bird species and over 300 plant species found in Makanaga wetland that is between Wakiso and Mpigi. If you enjoy bird watching you should also visit Mabamba swamp found a few kilometers from Mpigi town. Mpaga forest range in Mpigi is another interesting place to visit. It has a crocodile farm where one can take selfies with the reptiles.  Looking to the future Mpigi will be more accessible with the completion of Busega Mpigi express highway that is currently under construction by the Ministry of works and transport. The new road is expected to reduce traffic congestion along Busenga, Kyegera and Sangi. New settlements are coming up and the cost of land is steadily increasing.

Hope for Banyarwanda Rekindled As President Museveni Promises to Issue an Executive Order on Their Demands  Kampala- Uganda’s Banyarwanda community received a major boost on January 11, 2025, when Frank Gashumba, chairman of the Council for Abavandimwe, announced that President Yoweri Museveni had ordered government agencies to end discriminatory practices hindering Ugandan-born Banyarwanda from obtaining identification documents.This landmark decision is seen as a direct response to years of unjust treatment. Gashumba revealed to gathering that President Museveni is set to pend own signature on an executive order addressing the community’s chronical outcry.IMPORTANT TO NOTEPrior to this, the Council for Abavandimwe (CFA) had petitioned the Human Rights Commission, Equal Opportunities Commission, Inspector General of Government, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Uganda Communications Commission, the Speaker of Parliament, the Leader of Opposition, Parliament and the President of Uganda.   The Prime Minister informed the CFA that the president tabled their concerns and the Council has reliable information that the president is in final stages of signing an executive order to that effect.The Council for Abavandimwe notes that indigenous Banyarwanda do not need special favors and only demands to be treated like any other ethnic group.   The Council says, Banyarwanda still live as a family and have not faced discrimination amongst themselves but only face injustice at Ministry of Internal Affairs and National Identity Registration Authority (NIRA) Offices.Gashumba was also dissatisfied with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics’ estimate of the Banyarwanda population, suggesting the true number is closer to 11 million, rather than the reported 600,000 in the 2024 National Housing and Population Census.   In a later time, the Council intends to push for comprehensive legislation protecting the rights and freedoms of the Banyarwanda people.However, citing President Museveni’s consistent support, Gashumba appealed to Banyarwanda to rally behind him in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.    In the same regard, Dr. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, re-echoed Gashumba’s sentiments, thanking President Museveni for his timely intervention. He shared personal struggles with identification issues, highlighting the difficulties faced by his family in securing passports and national IDs.    A multitude of Banyarwanda gathered at Speke Hotel in Kampala, also shared similar hardship exprience, and the community expressed determination to push for equal treatment and full recognition as Ugandan citizens.   CFA has been engaging with government institutions, seeking justice for the Banyarwanda people. With the President’s directive, they view this as a crucial step forward in their fight for equality.

Seeta Junior School Mukono top 2024 PLE Results with impressive 100%

It was a moment of ululating and dancing at Seeta Junior School Mukono, Nabuti as all their 97 primary seven candidates of 2024 passed with first Grades last Pupil Getting 8 Aggregates.  Immediately the Minister of education and first Lady Janet kataha Museveni released Examinations teachers together with candidates' parents ran to their phones to check the results and they were all overwhelmed with joy  began to dance and Sing Knowing all pupils excelled Highly.  Serugo Brian the headteacher of the school exalted Almighty God that his pupils passed with flying colours with 36 scoring maximum 4 aggregates leading the entire Mukono district and entire Uganda.  Serugo lauded the Directors of Seeta Schools including State Minister for Higher Education Hon Dr JC Muyingo and Mrs Rose Muyingo, parents and candidates for the cordial relationship that enabled them triumph. The headteacher went ahead to reveal what makes them unique like Team work Spirit as family, Hard word, Loving what they do above all trusting in Almighty God  According to pupils they dedicated this great victory to parents who tirelessly paid School Necessities not forgetting Brilliant Teachers that Feed them with reliable Knowledge that has lead them unto this Great victory.Some of Teachers including Mr Nyonyi Julius and Mr Kyazze Paddy Ranks  Seeta Schools as the best in all country compared to what happens Somewhere Else.   According to Mr Dan Odongo UNEB ED "A total of 797,444 candidates from 14.883 centres (schools) registered for PLE in 2024 compared to 749,347 in 2023. Of this number, 524,025 (65.7%) from 11,451 centres were Universal Primary Education (UPE) beneficiaries  "In 2024, analysis by gender shows that 378,7o9 (47.5%) boys were registered compared to 418,750 (52.5%) girls, indicating that more girls than boys completed the Primary Education cycle. This has been the trend in recent years.

Ministry of Finance Suggests borrowing Euro162,445,694.1 from China Bank

The Minister of State for Finance, Henry Musasizi has tabled an addendum to the proposal to borrow Euro162,445,694.1  (Shs617,464,205,559) from the Export-Import Bank of China to finance the development of power supply to industrial parks and power transmission line extension.   Deputy Speaker @Thomas_Tayebwa  referred the loan proposal to the Committee of National Economy for scrutiny in consultation with the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment, before a final decision on the request is taken by Parliament.

Deputy Speaker Directs Human Rights Committee to Visit Besigye

  The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has instructed Parliament’s Committee on Human Rights to visit Luzira Prisons to ascertain whether Dr. Kizza Besigye is being treated in line with standard prison procedures.    The directive was given to the committee, chaired by West Budama North East Constituency legislator Hon. Fox Odoi, during Thursday’s parliament plenary sitting. This followed complaints from opposition legislators who alleged that Dr. Besigye has been denied access to food from his family and the chance to physically interact with visitors.    “I have consulted with the chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights. Let the committee visit Dr. Besigye tomorrow and prepare a report to be presented on Tuesday, so that during the debate on the government’s statement, we can also discuss the committee’s findings,” Rt Hon. Tayebwa stated. The directive was met with applause from the House. The proposal to dispatch the committee was specifically put forward by Bugiri Municipality legislator Asuman Basalirwa, who remarked that Parliament would have “discharged its obligations” by taking such action.   However, Tayebwa cautioned against expanding the committee’s mandate to include tasks such as investigating Dr. Besigye’s health condition or directing the prisons to allow private doctors chosen by his family to examine him. This request had been made by Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Ibrahim Ssemujju and Bukonjo West legislator Atkins Katusabe.   The Deputy Speaker argued that additional responsibilities could delay the committee’s report, which is scheduled for presentation and debate next Tuesday.   “Honourable colleagues, we hold positions of responsibility and power, but there are limits to our authority. My authority here stops at a certain point. I cannot order that doctors recommended by the family be allowed to see him,” Tayebwa cautioned.   He added, “The Committee on Human Rights includes members from both the government and the opposition. The best course of action is for the committee to visit tomorrow and present their findings to us.” Additionally, Tayebwa joined other legislators in offering prayers for Dr. Besigye, saying, “Let’s pray for him; we all wish him the best.” Earlier in the sitting, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, also prayed for Dr. Besigye.   Several legislators expressed appreciation for the directive. “I am very happy with your guidance, very happy,” said Busiro East legislator Ssegona Medard. During Tuesday’s plenary, the Attorney General is also expected to present a report on Dr. Besigye, which will be discussed alongside the committee’s findings.
