LoLet Piped Water Supply System Commissioned to Serve 1,500 Households
Napak District has received a major boost in access to clean and safe water after Hon. Raphael Magyezi commissioned the LoLet Piped Water Supply System. The project, funded under the Development Initiative for Northern Uganda (DINU) and the District Water Supply and Sanitation Development Grant, serves three villages, reaching approximately 1,500 households. Previously, the community struggled with access to clean drinking water. During the commissioning, Hon. Raphael Magyezi, Minister for Local Government, emphasized the importance of water for both domestic use and production. “Water is life, and water is a blessing for production. I want this water to reach more villages. The District Water Officer should include this in the budget for the next financial year,” he directed.Kodet John Paul, LC5 Chairperson of Napak District, expressed gratitude to the government for prioritizing the people of Napak. “We appreciate the Ministry of Local Government for always thinking about our people. We also request to be considered in the next phase of the LEGS Project,” he said. James Bedijo Okumu, the Chief Administrative Officer of Napak, acknowledged the project's impact. “This facility has significantly improved access to clean water, reduced school absenteeism, and minimized waterborne diseases. Women and children now save time previously spent searching for water,” he noted. In addition to addressing water needs, Hon. Magyezi pledged to escalate concerns to the Minister of Education, Mama Janet Museveni, about the absence of a government aided school and health center to the responsible ministry in hopes of a positive change.
