 The former Member of Parliament for Buikwe South, Hon. David Mutebi Ronnie, has urged school administrators to prioritize sports activities, emphasizing that they foster unity and cooperation among pupils rather than self-centeredness.   He also called upon tax authorities to reduce levies on sports equipment, noting that these activities are affordable and contribute to public health and well-being.Hon. Mutebi made these remarks while attending a sports event at Seeta Junior School, Mbalala Campus, in Mukono District, where he was the chief guest. The event showcased various talents through activities such as athletics, tug-of-war, and ball games, with active participation from both students and parents.The school headteacher, Rev. Sister Namala Chrispina, highlighted that the event aimed to promote sports among learners, complementing the school's strong academic reputation. She urged all teachers to encourage students to explore their talents, emphasizing that not all success comes solely from academics. As he concluded the event, Hon. Mutebi reiterated the need for schools to embrace sports, stressing their role in fostering teamwork and mutual support among students. He once again appealed to tax authorities to lower sports-related taxes, given the affordability and health benefits of such activities. The competitions were organized among different school houses, namely Moroto, Rwenzori, Mufumbira, and Elgon. In the end, Rwenzori emerged victorious, receiving a cow and a cash prize, while other participants were awarded goats and various gifts.

 The House of Bishops of Church of Uganda sitting at Zebra Hotel in Masaka City today, 30th March 2025 has elected Rev. Canon. Kugonza Joshua as the 3rd Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese.  He will be consecrated and enthroned as the 3rd Bishop of the Diocese on 3rd August 2025 at St Matthews Cathedral Masindi.Rev Canon Kugonza Joshua was born on 7th October 1976 in Kiryandongo District. He was born again on 13th September 1989 at Alwala Church of Uganda in Apac District, West Lango Diocese.He was ordained Deacon on 3rd January 2010 and Priested on 14th December 2010 at St Matthews Cathedral Masindi.He is a Canon of St Matthews Cathedral Masindi.He is married to Mrs Proscovia Allen Kugonza and God has blessed them with four children.  Rev Canon Kugonza Joshua is currently the Diocesan Secretary of Masindi Kitara Diocese, a position he has held since 2021.  He previously served as a Parish Priest, project officer with Samaritan Purse, Headteacher and a teacher at Kigumba Intensive Primary School.   He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Divinity from Uganda Christian University, a Diploma in Education from National Teachers College Ngetta in Lira District and several other professional courses.

  Arua CityOn Saturday 22,march 2025, West Nile Effort For Museveni, A Pressure Group Started By Individuals Among Which Was The Late Former Vice President Gen Mustafa Adris And Late Hon Col. Ibrahim Abiriga, To Amplify The Vision Of President Museveni And Mobilize Support For Him And His Party Of The National Resistance Movement (Nrm).   Gen Mustafa Adris Served Diligently As Vice President Under President Idi Amin Dad, But Went To Exile After The 1979 War, He And Many Others Endured Hardships There And When President Museveni Took Over Power In 1986 With His Nra/m, He Extended His Open Door Policy To All Ugandans Who Were Exiled In Then Zaire, Now Drc And Sudan To Come Back To Uganda And Contribute To National Development And Transformation. Many Feared Then, But The Bold Dared And Came Back To What Were Ruins Of The Former Glory Of Arua Which Included The Now (Yumbe, Koboko, Maracha, Terego, Madi Okollo, Arua City And District As Well As Moyo (Obongi, Moyo And Adjumani) They Started From Stretch And Started To Rebuild, Arua Town A Ghost Of It's Own, With No Power, Water, Bombed Structured And Many Others, There Was Fear Within The Returnees That The New Government Of President Museveni Might Also Revenge On Them Like The Post 1979 War Government Troops, But To Their Surprise They Were Protected And Slowly But Gradually, Government Started To Work On Restructuring And Rebuilding Lives And Establishing Of Government Authority And Provision Of Services.  West Nile Effort For Museveni Was Formed To Appreciate The Great Gesture By President Museveni Who Facilitated The Return Of Exiled Ugandans, It Wasn't And Hasn't Been Easy To Build Trust Within The Community Of West Nile, But Over Time Things Have Been Changing, There Also Developed A Challenge Of The Lord's Resistance Army (Lra) Who Terrorised Northern Uganda, Especially Acholi And Affecting Connection To West Nile, Since Many People Suffered In The Hands Of The Lra, Where Lives And Property Were Lost. The Pressure Group Has Overtime Championed To Mobilize Votes For President Museveni, And Advocated For Positive Mindset Change And Participation In Government Programs Like Emyooga, Pdm, Youth Livelihood, Operation Wealth Creation, Among Many Geared Towards Social Economic Transformation And Development. NFA Law Enforcement Arrests 10 Suspects for Illegal Forest Activities in Mabira CFR

*NFA Law Enforcement ArreThe National Forestry Authority (NFA) enforcement team has arrested 10 suspects involved in illegal forest activities in the Bulengeza area, Namulaba, within the Mabira Central Forest Reserve (CFR). The arrest followed an operation that uncovered illegal logging, timber dealing, and charcoal production.  According to James Mununa, the Coordinator of Enforcement at NFA, the crackdown has been crucial in curbing illegal activities within the forest. "Our team has made significant strides in stopping forest destruction in Mabira. We are committed to protecting the forest and ensuring that those involved in these illegal acts face justice," Mununa said. Police conducted searches in the homes of key suspects, recovering exhibits such as power saws, timber, fuel, tools, and charcoal. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Olugu, the NFA Police Liaison Officer, stated that the suspects are being charged with illegal possession of forest produce and conspiracy to commit felonies under the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act of 2003 and the Penal Code Act of Uganda. *The suspects include:*Okech JamesMugabo TwalikMutabazi JohnLubega IbrahimMotabi HamzaNsubuga CharlesKeleto JingoSebufu EdrisaMusigura Nkoge MondayAtanasi MosesAmong them, Mugabo Twalik and Sebufu Edrisa are former convicts who had served sentences for similar crimes before re-engaging in illegal activities within Mabira CFR. Aldon Walukamba, the Communications and Public Relations Manager at NFA, highlighted the arrest of Joseph Ecima, a key coordinator of illegal activities in Mabira, which has led to further arrests. "We are now tracking other accomplices, including businessmen, politicians, and government workers who are funding these operations. They will be brought to justice," Walukamba said.He added, β€œThese suspects are the foot soldiers of those who finance forest crimes. They cut trees, transport timber and charcoal, and hide them in strategic houses near the boundaries of Mabira CFR. We found timber, charcoal, burnt oils, and other destructive instruments used in these illegal activities.” The NFA remains vigilant in its efforts to protect Uganda’s forests from illegal exploitation after arresting a total of 13 key suspects in one week.

Many students scored 20 points, while others attained scores qualifying them for university admission. The Headmaster, Mr. Kamya Joseph, urged parents not to worry about the new curriculum, emphasizing that it equips students with diverse skills that will be beneficial even after they leave school.Mr. Kamya made these remarks during a thanksgiving mass organized to celebrate the students’ outstanding performance in the UACE 2024 exams. He noted that most students scored 20, 19, and 18 points, with all candidates securing spots in higher institutions of learning.  The mass was led by the school chaplain, Rev. Fr. Joseph Mwinganinza, who reflected on the journey the students have taken, praying for their continued success and expressed gratitude to God for answering their prayers and congratulated all students on their achievements.  Speaking to the media after the thanksgiving ceremony, Mr. Kamya extended his appreciation to the teachers for their dedication, the parents for trusting the school with their children’s education, and the school’s management for their unwavering support. He reassured parents that the new curriculum is beneficial as it equips students with essential skills beyond academics. Some of the top students, including Mutyonyi Polline, who scored 20 points, and Matove Julias, also expressed their gratitude to their teachers for their commitment to their education. They thanked God for guiding them through the journey and promised to continue working hard to uphold the school’s reputation.

FUMWA and INTERPOL Collaborate to Strengthen Migrant Worker Protections and Combat Human Trafficking

 The Federation of Ugandan Migrant Workers Associations (FUMWA), led by Mr. Abdallah Kayonde, the International Director for Ugandan Migrant Workers and President Migrant Workers’ Voice, recently held a high-level meeting with the Directorate of INTERPOL, headed by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Joseph Obwona and his top team. The discussions focused on fostering mutual cooperation to address critical issues such as human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and the welfare of Ugandan migrant workers abroad.  Human trafficking remains a significant challenge in Uganda, with over 1,500 cases reported in 2020 alone, many involving women and children. Recognizing this crisis, FUMWA proposed a formal partnership with INTERPOL to enhance joint efforts in combating these crimes. The collaboration would involve information sharing, coordinated responses to trafficking cases, and initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable migrants.During the meeting, FUMWA emphasized its role as the apex umbrella body for Ugandan migrant workers abroad. The federation highlighted its ongoing efforts to improve migration governance by developing a centralized database for tracking outgoing and returning migrants. This initiative seeks to address the current fragmentation of data across multiple government agencies, enabling policymakers to formulate more effective migration policies while improving migrant welfare monitoring.  FUMWA also outlined plans to establish a sendoff and reception center in Entebbe to provide departing migrants with essential information and support services. This center would serve as a hub for promoting safe migration practices and equipping migrants with knowledge about their rights and available support systems.Another key proposal was special travel facilitation for FUMWA leaders to enable them to reach distressed Ugandan migrants globally. This initiative aims to ensure timely assistance for those in need while strengthening Uganda’s international reputation by addressing cases of irregular migration promptly.  The meeting underscored the importance of protecting Uganda’s image by reducing incidents involving distressed migrants abroad. To achieve this, FUMWA proposed establishing a rapid response team composed of experienced senior migrant workers to handle complaints efficiently. Additionally, collaboration with embassies and consulates was discussed as a means to provide immediate support for Ugandans in distress.The global mandate of INTERPOL Uganda, as part of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), is to facilitate cross-border police cooperation and support efforts to prevent or combat international crime. This includes facilitating information sharing and cooperation between Ugandan law enforcement and the global    INTERPOL network. This cooperation is crucial in tackling transnational crimes such as human trafficking, cybercrime, and terrorism. By connecting Ugandan authorities with international partners, INTERPOL Uganda enhances the country's ability to address complex global challenges.INTERPOL Uganda also plays a key role in supporting global investigations and operations. The organization contributes to global databases and cooperates on cross-border investigations and arrests, all in accordance with national laws and international protocols. Additionally, the Uganda Police Interpol office manages the issuance of Certificates of Good Conduct, which are often required for international travel, work, or study.  This process involves verifying an individual's criminal record against both local and international databases. Overall, INTERPOL Uganda's activities are designed to strengthen global security and justice by fostering collaboration and coordination among law enforcement agencies worldwide.In conclusion, the partnership between FUMWA and INTERPOL represents a significant step toward creating safer migration pathways for Ugandan workers while combating human trafficking effectively. Under the leadership of Mr. Abdallah Kayonde and with support from INTERPOL's AIGP Joseph Obwona, this collaboration has the potential to transform Uganda’s approach to migration governance and safeguard its citizens abroad. Together, these efforts aim not only to protect migrant workers but also to uphold Uganda's positive image on the global stage.

 Barbra Nalwadda Reportedly in Hiding After Alleged Abuse, Family Fallout and Shs5 Million Reward OfferSecurity authorities have reportedly intensified efforts to trace a woman identified as Barbra Nalwadda, who is said to be in hiding following allegations linked to involvement in prohibited same-sex relationships.According to information from police and community sources, Nalwadda disappeared after a violent fallout with her partner, Ronald Mutebi, a soldier attached to Uganda’s Special Forces Command (SFC). Authorities claim investigations into her whereabouts are ongoing, although no official statement has publicly disclosed the exact charges or accusations being pursued against her.Sources familiar with the matter say the conflict dates back to March last year, when tensions allegedly erupted at the couple’s home after Mutebi reportedly discovered information suggesting that Nalwadda identified as a lesbian.The revelation is said to have shaken the relationship the two had maintained since 2019, triggering serious domestic disputes that later became widely discussed within their community.Individuals close to the family allege that the discovery led to repeated confrontations, humiliation, and physical violence inside the home. Some claim Nalwadda was insulted, threatened, and isolated after neighbors and relatives learned about her alleged sexual orientation.  Fearing for her safety, she reportedly fled from home and disappeared without informing even close friends and relatives about her destination.Since then, her location has remained unknown.Reports circulating through local networks indicate that both security authorities and Mutebi have continued searching for her for months. Sources claim that a cash reward of Shs5 million has allegedly been promised to anyone who provides reliable information leading to her arrest or location.Although some reports suggest Nalwadda may have escaped to another country, these claims remain unconfirmed.  People familiar with the matter say Nalwadda believes she became a target because of her sexual orientation and claims she suffered mistreatment after her partner allegedly failed to accept her identity.β€œShe feared for her life after the situation became public,” one source claimed anonymously. β€œPeople around her started judging and isolating her immediately after the allegations spread.”The case has once again drawn attention to the difficult realities faced by lesbian women in Uganda, where same-sex relationships remain highly controversial both socially and legally.In many Ugandan communities, women accused of lesbian relationships often face rejection, discrimination, violence, and public shame. Some are abandoned by relatives, lose employment opportunities, or are forced into hiding due to fear of retaliation.Religious and cultural leaders across the country have consistently opposed homosexuality, arguing that it contradicts traditional African values and beliefs. Dedication and Sacrifice Pay Off as Two Mt. St. Henry’s High School Mukono Students Score 20 Points.

 Mt. St. Henry’s High School Mukono has performed exceptionally well in the 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations. Two students scored the maximum 20 points, while all other students scored marks qualifying them for university admission out of a total of 180 candidates.  The Headmistress, Ms. Nakalembe Teopista, expressed her joy and appreciation for the students' dedication and sacrifice, noting that they worked hard, sacrificed sleep, and maintained discipline. She further stated that they expect many of the students to benefit from government sponsorship at university.  Following the release of the 2024 UACE results by the Uganda national examination board (UNEB), several schools have been celebrating their achievements. At Mt. St. Henry’s High School Mukono, all science and Arts students scored marks qualifying them for university admission.  Ms. Nakalembe commended the teachers for their tireless efforts in ensuring the students' success and thanked parents for their timely provision of school requirements. She praised the students for their commitment and discipline, emphasizing that they are well-prepared to pursue their studies under government sponsorship.  After thanking God for their success, the Headmistress also appreciated the Government of Uganda, particularly the Ministry of Education and Sports, for implementing the Adapted Curriculum for A’ Level students. She expressed confidence that their students will benefit from it in their future endeavors.  One of the top students, Damba Regan John Bosco, who scored 20 points in PEM/ICT and intends to pursue Civil Engineering, expressed gratitude to God and the school administration for giving him the opportunity to study. He also urged fellow students to take their studies seriously to achieve their future goals.
