What started as a modest poultry project has grown into a thriving enterprise for Mrs. Mariam Nasolo, a poultry farmer whose determination and proper utilization of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds have transformed her household income.

During a monitoring exercise conducted by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Luweero Sub-Region, led by Regional Coordinator Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, Mariam’s poultry project emerged as one of the notable examples of how government wealth-creation programs are making a difference at the grassroots.

After benefiting from the PDM program, Mariam invested in 100 chicks, laying the foundation for what has become a rapidly expanding poultry enterprise. Today, her farm boasts 600 broiler chicks and 200 kroiler chicks, reflecting remarkable growth within a relatively short period.

The expansion has translated into meaningful economic gains for her family. Income generated from poultry farming has enabled her to consistently pay school fees for her children while also reinvesting in her business.

One of her most significant achievements has been the construction of a permanent poultry structure, a development that has improved the management of the birds and positioned the enterprise for further expansion.

Mariam attributes her progress to the opportunities created through the Parish Development Model, noting that access to capital allowed her to turn an income-generating idea into a sustainable business venture.

Her success story demonstrates the growing impact of PDM in empowering households, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting the government’s agenda of wealth creation and socio-economic transformation.

As ONC continues to monitor beneficiaries across the Luweero Sub-Region, stories like Mariam Nasolo’s serve as evidence that strategic investment of PDM funds can create lasting change and improve the welfare of families and communities.
