The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has confirmed a renewed and strategic push to regain strong political support in the Luweero Sub-Region, following a high-level Top Management meeting held earlier today. The meeting reaffirmed the party’s commitment to reconnecting with communities, countering misinformation, and strengthening mobilisation efforts ahead of upcoming political activities.

Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Rosemary Namayanja, alongside State Minister for Higher Education Hon. Dr. John Chrysestom Muyingo, will spearhead the grassroots mobilisation drive. This strategic leadership aims to ensure that the party directly engages citizens across Luweero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola, listening to their concerns and delivering accurate information on government achievements and ongoing programs.

NRM leadership noted that during previous elections, some opposition figures misled communities with false narratives and divisive rhetoric. This time, the party vows to firmly counter misinformation and restore trust by intensifying outreach efforts.

Party officials expressed full confidence that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all NRM candidates will emerge with a strong mandate once the truth about the party’s development record is clearly communicated.

This mobilisation push follows a groundbreaking regional leaders’ meeting, where district officials, mobilisers, and party executives agreed to “fight tooth and nail” to reclaim Luweero Sub-Region—an area deeply woven into the historical identity of the NRM.

Background: Luweero and the NRM

The Luweero Sub-Region—comprising Luweero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola—holds profound historical significance for the NRM as the core of the 1981–1986 liberation struggle, often referred to as the Luweero Triangle. The sacrifices made by the people of this region helped lay the foundation for the stability the country enjoys today.

Though traditionally an NRM stronghold, recent voting patterns showed shifts, prompting the party to strengthen engagement, correct misinformation, and re-establish strong partnerships with the community.

Agriculture, youth empowerment, education, and infrastructure remain top priorities for residents—areas where NRM leaders believe renewed communication will rebuild confidence in the party’s development agenda.
