Luweero District — Continued monitoring of government education programs under the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has highlighted the importance of strengthening water and sanitation facilities at St Stephen’s Kyetume Primary School in Luweero District.

The monitoring exercise was conducted by Waswa Abdulkarim Tamale, the ONC Regional Coordinator for Greater Luweero and Political Personal Assistant to Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo.

The visit was carried out under the guidance of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through his Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hadijah Namyalo, who continues to coordinate supervision of government programs across communities.

During the monitoring visit, school administrators commended the government for timely payment of teachers’ salaries and consistent release of capitation grants, which have greatly supported teaching and learning activities.

However, the school leadership highlighted the need for a reliable water source within the school compound, noting that access to clean water would greatly improve hygiene and support daily school operations.

In addition, the school community emphasized the importance of improving toilet facilities for girls, especially to support learners during adolescence and ensure a comfortable learning environment.

Tamale noted that government continues to prioritize improving the welfare of learners across the country and emphasized that water and sanitation remain key components of a conducive learning environment.

He encouraged parents and community leaders to continue working closely with school administrators to ensure learners remain in school and benefit from government education programs.

The monitoring exercise reaffirmed the commitment of the Office of the National Chairman to continuously follow up on service delivery in schools and ensure that education programs under the leadership of President Museveni reach every community.
