Rt. Hon. Anita Among on Tuesday evening joined the Ruparelia Foundation and partners at Kabira Country Club for the official launch of the RR Eye Camp, which is set to take place in Bukedea District camp is being organized in honour of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, who tragically passed away in a car accident along Busabala Road in May last year.
During the launch event, Jyotsna Ruparelia, director of the Ruparelia Group, said the initiative holds special meaning for the family because it is dedicated to the memory of their son, Rajiv, who strongly believed in philanthropy and community service.

She emphasized that the eye camp reflects Rajiv’s passion for giving back to society and helping improve the lives of vulnerable communities.
Rt. Hon. Speaker Among commended the Ruparelia Foundation, led by prominent Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, for complementing government efforts by bringing essential medical services closer to communities.

She noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in improving access to healthcare, particularly in underserved areas, while also demonstrating the impact of partnerships between the private sector and government in serving humanity.
The RR Eye Camp is scheduled to take place from Friday, 27th March to Sunday, 29th March 2026 at Bukedea Teaching Hospital.
Organizers say the three-day medical outreach aims to provide free eye screenings and basic treatment to at least 2,000 people, conduct 300 cataract surgeries, and perform 50 specialized surgeries for children, among other eye care services.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to eye care services for residents in Bukedea and surrounding districts, while honoring the legacy of Rajiv Ruparelia’s commitment to philanthropy and community development.
