Ugandan Intelligence Monitoring UNAA President Charles Muvawala Over Alleged NUP Fundraising in the US Political

Ugandan Intelligence Monitoring UNAA President Charles Muvawala Over Alleged NUP Fundraising in the US

According to reports, Ugandan intelligence is closely monitoring several ugandans working abroad including UNAA president Charles Muvawala  especially at this time when opposition strongman Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu is reenergizing his support base in United States of America. Sources say Gen Museveni was briefed by security that Muvawala was mobilizing funds to facilitate Bobi Wine’s political struggle using his position as the vice president of the Uganda North America Association (UNAA) and vocal supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP). Sources said that in 2025, the Ugandan government through Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) froze a bank account with millions of shillings after investigations revealed that the money was being deposited on the said bank account to facilitate NUP’s political activities and that Muvawala together with Dr. Daniel Kawuma, the head of the NUP Diaspora chapter in United States were behind the bank account and to save their money, Muvawala was sent to Uganda to present all the necessary documents to prove to the authorities that the money on the said bank account was his. Sources said that it was the reason why Muvawala was kidnapped in 2025 when he returned to Uganda and spent weeks in security detention until he was dumped in Buliisa district without any criminal charges slapped on him.Even though he was advised to leave the country since he is also a United States of America citizen, Muvawala desperately remained in the country while struggling to rescue the money so he was again arrested in early 2026 when he was at Bobi Wine’s political rally and he was charged with illegal filming of a policeman and remanded to Luzira prison but he was released. Gen Museveni was informed that its the reason why Bobi Wine was not bothered by with the controversial Inter Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) amendments which denied his party from benefiting from the said money.

Okello Found Guilty in Ggaba Daycare Killings, Awaits Sentencing Crime

Okello Found Guilty in Ggaba Daycare Killings, Awaits Sentencing

The High Court has convicted Christopher Okello Onyum of murdering four children at a daycare centre in Ggaba, after Justice Alice Komuhangi Khaukha ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt. The court found that Okello was responsible for the killings, rejecting arguments advanced by the defense, including claims that the absence of first responders in court weakened the prosecution’s case. Justice Komuhangi acknowledged that testimony from first responders would have strengthened the case but said their absence did not undermine the overall weight of the evidence presented by the prosecution. On the question of identification, the court found that Okello was clearly visible and identifiable in video footage that had been presented as evidence and challenged by the defense during trial. In her judgment, the judge said the nature of the attack demonstrated clear intent, concluding that the accused acted with malice aforethought.“There is no way there is no malice aforethought,” Justice Komuhangi said, adding that the accused “butchered the children like goats or chicken,” in describing the brutality of the incident. The court also dismissed Okello’s insanity defense, ruling that the burden of proving mental illness lay with the accused, which had not been discharged.Justice Komuhangi noted that Okello was the only person who testified about his alleged mental unfitness and that his evidence was unsworn, which denied the prosecution an opportunity to cross-examine him.She further questioned the credibility of his claims regarding alleged external influence, observing that he failed to identify the individuals he said had influenced him, which the court found significant. The judge also addressed inconsistencies in claims that Okello had been treated at Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital, saying such information would not likely have been unknown to close relatives.“If the father and mother are alive, they would have found it important to come and testify and provide evidence of mental illness. The accused who had the opportunity to furnish court with witnesses, never found his own parents as fit witness for him. This was unusual,” Justice Komuhangi said. The court concluded that the defense of insanity was not supported by credible evidence and held that Okello was criminally responsible for the offences. He was accordingly convicted on all four counts of murder and will be sentenced at a later date. By Nilepost

BREAKING NEWS: NUP Coordinator dies in a Road Accident In Kenya

A mobiliser for the National Unity Platform and parliamentary candidate in the Sebei sub-region, Kalifani Chemutai, has died following a road accident in Kenya. Chemutai reportedly died on the night of April 29, 2026, in Endebess area, Trans Nzoia County, while riding a motorcycle towards the Suam border point into Uganda. The NUP coordinator for the Sebei sub-region, Caleb Noah Cherotich, confirmed the incident to Uganda Radio Network. According to Cherotich, Chemutai had travelled to Kenya to visit his sister before the fatal accident occurred. “He had gone to visit his sister, but on his way back, he realised he had forgotten his travel documents. He decided to return for them, and that is when the accident happened,” Cherotich said. He added that details surrounding the crash remain unclear, including the circumstances under which the motorcycle accident happened. “We have lost a committed mobiliser who has been active in building the party structures in Sebei. This is a big loss to us,” he added. Family members have since travelled to Kenya to follow up on the matter and arrange for the return of the body to Uganda. Chemutai’s sister, Betty Chemutai, said the body is currently being kept at Kitale Mortuary pending postmortem examination and completion of legal procedures. “The body is at Kitale Mortuary, and we are travelling there to also have a proper investigation and postmortem before we can bring him back home,” she said. Efforts to obtain a comment from the Kenya Police regarding the accident were unsuccessful by press time. Chemutai’s death comes shortly after the passing of another NUP supporter, Nakimuli, adding to the party’s recent losses. The family is expected to announce burial arrangements in the coming days.

It is estimated that Uganda loses over 1.1 billion dollars annually due to ticks and tick-borne diseases.  The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries estimates that Uganda loses annual foreign exchange outflow to the tune of $83.3 million, due to expenditures on the importation of over 370,000 litres of acaricides and 83000 litres of associated drugs on an annual basis.  The President was expected at Namulonge for the launch that will coincide with his visit to the research station. Museveni, while in Nairobi last week, hailed Ugandan scientists behind the anti-tick vaccine.

Bobi Wine Calls for Solidarity as Eddie Mutwe Faces Brutality Under Museveni’s Regime

By Bobi WineEddie Mutwe is all of us. Today, it is him—illegally detained, tortured, and dehumanized by Museveni’s brutal son. Tomorrow, it could be any one of us. The regime is not even hiding its cruelty anymore. They boast about it, mocking Eddie and saying they are "teaching him Runyankore" while subjecting him to unspeakable abuse. But Eddie represents more than just himself. He represents every Ugandan who dares to dream of a just and free country. He embodies the resilience of all political prisoners languishing in dungeons for standing up against dictatorship. His suffering is a painful reminder of the price we pay for demanding freedom, but it must also strengthen our resolve. As difficult as these times are, we must not despair. We must unite. All Ugandans of good conscience—regardless of political affiliation—must come together and stand firm in our shared values. This is not about partisanship; it is about humanity, justice, and the future of our nation.Today, we have an opportunity to show solidarity. Join us at 2:00 PM at Makerere-Kavule for a gathering in support of Eddie Mutwe and all political prisoners. Let us stand together, speak with one voice, and renew our commitment to fight until Uganda is free.Eddie’s pain is our pain. His struggle is our struggle.
