Breaking:Notorious Mabira Forest Destroyer Ssensalira Sam Arrested Crackdown Intensifies

In a major breakthrough, law enforcement authorities have arrested Ssensalire Sam, one of the most notorious funders behind the destruction of Mabira Central Forest Reserve (CFR). Sam, long known for deeply rooted forest crimes, was apprehended and is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Francis Olugu, Sam has for more than five years evaded justice by allegedly compromising National Forestry Authority (NFA) staff and security operatives to release his impounded timber. “He has been dishing out bribes ranging from two to five million shillings to protect his illegal timber trade,” Olugu revealed. “We now have credible intelligence that he funded operations in Mabira, giving weekly targets for charcoal and timber delivery.” Law enforcement is also tracking assets illicitly acquired through these illegal operations, and investigations into Sam’s network of collaborators are ongoing.In a related crackdown, the LC3 Chairperson of Midigo Sub-county, Yumbe District, and eleven others have been arrested for illegally destroying 212 hectares of Mt. Kei CFR. They are being transported from Koboko to Kampala, where they will face charges before the Standard Utilities and Wildlife Court in Makindye. The charges include illegal camping, cultivation, timber cutting, charcoal burning, and land allocation in a protected forest reserve.“We are hunting down all timber dealers from Lugazi and Kagulumira who are decimating Mabira. Our operations are targeted, and we won’t stop until all funders and coordinators are held accountable,” ACP Olugu warned.Another suspect, Lwembawo Peter—described as a habitual forest crimes offender—is currently on the run. He is suspected of leading destructive activities in Bulengeza and Namulaba areas. Authorities confirmed that tracking of Lwembawo and an unnamed accomplice has reached an advanced stage. Aldon Walukamba, Communications and Public Relations Manager at NFA, applauded the joint security operations for their resolve. “We are seeing results because of teamwork. These forests are for all Ugandans, and we will not rest until they are freed from the grip of wrongdoers,” Walukamba stated.He added, “Forests like Mabira and Mt. Kei are not just trees—they’re lifelines for our climate, biodiversity, and livelihoods.”

The Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija, last evening officially closed the two-day High-Level Summit on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Alternative Justice Systems (AJS), held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, applauding participants for their vibrant engagement and commitment to promoting timely and community-driven justice. He presented certificates of participation and urged the attendees to become ambassadors of ADR and AJS in their respective institutions and communities.  Organised by the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) with support from the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), the Summit brought together Judicial Officers, religious and cultural leaders, prosecutors, development partners, and justice reform advocates from across the country. Themed “Structuring AJS to Achieve Timely, People-Centered Justice in Land and Commercial Matters,” the Summit provided a platform for dialogue, learning, and policy innovation around integrating community-based justice into the formal system.  Earlier in the day, the Chief Justice, Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny - Dollo, engaged participants in an interactive session, reaffirming his strong support for AJS. He described it as a culturally grounded and socially responsive model of justice that prioritizes healing and accountability. The Chief Justice emphasized that AJS is not a substitute for justice, but rather a restoration of indigenous practices that were disrupted by colonial legal systems. He underscored the importance of synergy between formal and informal mechanisms, citing plea bargaining as a working example of integration.  He further called for national coordination through the establishment of an AJS policy framework, regional stakeholder consultations, and a National AJS Implementation Committee led by the JTI. Drawing from his personal experiences, he highlighted the critical role of women in land dispute resolution and the inherent justice structures embedded within Uganda’s traditional governance systems. The keynote speaker, Justice Prof. Joel Ngugi of the Court of Appeal of Kenya, provided lessons from Kenya’s implementation of AJS. He emphasized the need for fairness, neutrality, and trust in community-based justice systems. Prof. Ngugi cautioned against politicization and elite capture of AJS, and instead encouraged processes that reflect community values and respect fundamental human rights.Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, the Director of Public Prosecutions, made a presentation on the relevance of AJS in underserved regions like Karamoja, where local resolution mechanisms are often the first—and sometimes only—resort for justice seekers. She stressed the importance of respecting human rights within informal processes and recognized the limitations of prosecutorial resources in reaching every case.  Her remarks reinforced the call for collaboration between formal and informal justice actors.Ms. Barbara Kilei, the Country Manager at IDLO, led a technical session on applying the principles of natural justice within AJS processes. She highlighted transparency, impartiality, and inclusive participation as essential to legitimacy and effectiveness. Participants then engaged in group discussions that produced key resolutions, including the formulation of a national policy framework on AJS, transformation of summit participants into a National AJS Movement, national stakeholder engagement on AJS policy, the creation of a National AJS Implementation Committee, court-level case diversion to AJS, and coordination of AJS efforts by JTI.  In his closing address, Justice Zeija thanked the Chief Justice for officially opening the Summit and participating actively in its discussions. Land Dispute Rocks Kampala: Hajji Kasai and Hajji Zziwa in High-Stakes Battle

A contentious land dispute has erupted in Kampala, pitting two prominent Muslim businessmen, Hajji Kasai Abdul and Hajji Ahmed Zziwa, against each other. The dispute centers on a prime piece of land near Old Tax Park  Plot 43 Ben Kiwanuka street LRV3347 Folio 2 ,which Zziwa claims he purchased from Kasai in 2005.  Background of the DisputeAccording to Zziwa, he bought 43 decimals of land from Kasai and paid the full amount. However, during the registration process, Kasai allegedly deducted 18 decimals without Zziwa's permission, leaving him with only 25 decimals. since that time they have never been in terms Kasai doing all possible to have Zziwa Down  The Current ConflictThe situation has taken a dramatic turn with the expiration of the land title's lease period after 20 years. Kasai is now reclaiming the land, claiming that he never sold it to anyone. Meanwhile, Zziwa has been paying ground rent and property rent to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) for the land, and KCCA has even sent him reminders to pay this year. Allegations of CorruptionThe dispute has taken a murky turn, with allegations of corruption and collusion between Kasai and prominent government officials. Over 100 international Delegates renounce previous Affiliations and Follow Owobusobozi Bisaka

 On Thursday , Kagadi District witnessed a remarkable gathering as prominent  delegates including Pastors , Sheikhs from countries like  DR Congo , Ghana , Germany , South Africa Ethiopia  United under the Faith of Unity , led by Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka. During the two-days annual  celebration of the 96th Birthday of Owobusobozi Bisaka that took place at the Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka international stadium in Kyalubayinga, Muhororo Subcounty Kagadi district I  During the celebrations  where the chief guest was the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni more than 35 notorious witch doctors from DR Congo , 15 sheikhs , cocaine traffickers, and 45 senior pastors, including those connected to major Pentecostal churches in the world , publicly renounced their previous affiliations and embraced the teachings of Oneness by Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka to promote unity. Aduluj Julius, leader of the group of pastors, from Congo  shared that they have chosen to leave behind what they once followed and embrace the known truth. Julius admitted that, despite overseeing over 70 churches  worldwide as a pastor, he had never performed any miracles, but instead exploited people for money, pretending to perform miracles with powers from dubious sources.  He revealed that these churches often relied on supernatural forces from questionable origins.  At this celebration, over 376 individuals from various religious backgrounds, including Jean Adu, a well-known witch doctor from Ghana with one of the largest shrines in Bole district, northern  Ghana joined the Faith of Unity. Jean expressed that it had always been his aspiration to abandon such practices.In addition, Owobusobozi Bisaka inaugurated more than 1100 new members as part of the Faith of Unity to help teac the message of unity and eliminate disunity. He urged them to prioritize development by engaging in hard work, establishing small-scale industries, and focusing on agriculture in alignment with the Faith of Unity calendar and the teachings found in the Book of Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka. Following this event, Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka was gifted with millions of money and his Kakabara bukwenda ( Diocese)  won the gift session  with a offertory worth 668 million , Owobusobozi Bisaka has always been an example  to rally support for the NRM and President Museveni, given that Bisaka is the chief mobilizer for the NRM throughout the year.

 Jonard Development Foundation is a non governmental organization working across Uganda for the social- economic transformation of the people.St. Edwards SS Bukumi is one of the religious based historical secondary school in western Uganda, Kakumiro District, Bunyoro Sub region.Jonard Astronext in partnership with JDF spent today quality time with about 400 students of S. 4, S. 5 and S.6 sharing life experiences, mentorship and carrier guidance. At the event Eng. Asiimwe Jonard the founder and proprietor of the above establishments cordially had an engagement with the students guiding them on how to easily pass science subjects, how to focus on science and maths for it's the intersection of life.He told students that, for example mathematics is not revised is practiced, he told them to practice calculating numbers in free time and the second way of passing maths is never to miss a class. In the same engagement, Jonard Astronext, a subsidiary company of Jonard Conglomerate Investment ltd, showcased prototypes of Space Technology Satellite "the JONBALST 1" and two robotics prototypes of a traffic light system and a door opening and closing system powered by AI. The team of space and technology practitioners interested students with the art and creativity showcased and this led to the formation of Space Club at St. Edwards Bukumi and members were left registering with the club.  Eng. Asiimwe Jonard further told students that, it's a good initiative that government is changing the curriculum, and this is helping us alot to start looking forward to competing with the rest of the world. "The future is highly going to be dependant on emerging technologies in robotics, artificial intelligence and use of big data. As we go on sooner than later we may start seeing the phasing out of cash money to digital money".A student at Bukumi said, it was timely and important for JDF to think of them. "We have been informed of what to do, how to do it and perhaps where to do it, we have gotten contacts and we have joined as members of the Space Club, alot is on the way by God's grace."The head of the management of the mentorship program Mr. Kato said the program will continue in different schools across Bunyoro then later will scale to other regions. "The current trends in tech, manufacturing and different value chains of production are complex, students are at crossroads with what to offer at advanced level of education and later at university, we are coming in with informed ideas that will help in guiding the future of these young people".  The Bursar of the school addressing the seating said that, he has been hearing of the programs of JDF in different districts, it has been his prayer always to also be a beneficiary and this was the first of many still coming.Eng.
