STATEMENT OF SUSPECTED MURDER IN KOLE DISTRICT

The territorial police in Kole District are investigating and looking for Adong Agnes and unidentified man whom both disappeared after the death of Okello Francis aged 45 yrs old who was discovered dead in a swamp in Adwir village, Bar Akalo parish, Akalo Sub-County Kole District, this is alleged to have occurred on the 27th Nov 2024 at unknown time at night and reported by LC I Otuku Denis on 28th Nov 2024 at 1130 hours to Akalo police station.  It was alleged that on the 28th Nov 2024 at around 0930 hours one Awel Colin went to check her rice in the swamp, however on reaching at her garden, she saw a jacket abandoned, checked around and saw a body floating on the shallow water in the swamp 10 meters away from the jacket. Awel Colin quickly went and informed the chairperson LC I of Adwir village in Bar Akalo parish , Akalo Sub-County who also reported to Akalo police station.  A case of suspected murder was registered at Akalo police station, scene of crime was visited, examined and documented by the SOCO.Statements were recorded from people around.   The house of the deceased was searched and the following exhibits were recovered; clothes of Adong Agnes ( wife to the deceased), two horns ( one horn for a cow and another one for unknown animal) and some dried local green herbs. The body of the deceased was taken to LIRA Regional Referral Hospital pending postmortem.  Preliminary findings indicates that the deceased had separated with Adong Agnes 15 years ago, but they had two girls, they separated due to domestic misunderstanding.  Adong Agnes later returned home in the recent past, and found when the deceased had married another wife, allegedly Adong chased the woman away. And surprisingly, she is now a witch doctor and was alleged to have brought a man who was helping her in the work as a witch doctor, hence they were all staying three people in the house. The two have all disappeared, and if they know they have no involvement in the death of Okello Francis why do they run.  We encourage them to report to any police facility to proved their innocent by allowing investigation to be conducted and file submitted to RSA for perusal and legal advice.Inquiries are still ongoing.   1052

Uganda has solidified its position as a leading exporter in East Africa, with coffee, tea, and maize at the forefront. Global

Uganda has solidified its position as a leading exporter in East Africa, with coffee, tea, and maize at the forefront.

In 2023, coffee exports reached over 6.5 million 60-kg bags, earning approximately $900 million, making Uganda Africa’s largest robusta exporter and a key player in specialty coffee markets.   Tea exports, valued at about $90 million annually, continue to grow, with demand rising in Europe and the Middle East due to improved quality standards. Maize, Uganda’s top grain export, accounted for $128 million in earnings in 2023, supported by robust regional demand from Kenya, South Sudan, and Rwanda.   The rise in these exports is fueled by the establishment of trade hubs and value-addition facilities that enhance product quality and market readiness. For instance, coffee hubs provide advanced processing facilities, enabling farmers to fetch higher prices.   Additionally, storage and logistics improvements, particularly at the Kampala Industrial and Business Park, have reduced post-harvest losses   1053 👁️ 👁️ views…
