The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), working jointly with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has arraigned former Nakisunga Sub-County LC III Chairperson Sekikubo Mubarak before the Anti-Corruption Court over allegations of corruption and criminal conspiracy in a scheme to defraud a job applicant of UGX 38 million.

Sekikubo was presented before the court this afternoon and charged with corruption and criminal conspiracy. He was subsequently remanded until November 4, 2026, as investigations and legal proceedings continue.

According to the prosecution, the charges arise from alleged events that occurred between January and June 2025 in Mukono Town, where Sekikubo is accused of conspiring with two other individuals, Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, a Probation and Welfare Officer for Lugazi Municipality, and Dr Wataba Saadi, who are both still at large.

The prosecution alleges that the accused persons conspired to defraud Dr Mukisa George William, a job applicant, of UGX 38 million by falsely representing that they could secure him a government appointment as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.

Investigations further indicate that the suspects allegedly claimed the money would be used to facilitate members of the Mukono District Service Commission to improperly influence the recruitment process in favour of Dr Mukisa.

The alleged scheme involved claims that the payment would enable the commission members to influence their decision-making and secure the applicant the Medical Officer position in exchange for an undue advantage.

The allegations raise concerns about attempts to exploit job seekers through promises of government employment and the alleged use of money to improperly influence public recruitment processes.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the CID and ODPP, continues to pursue cases involving alleged corruption and abuse of public office, with the aim of promoting accountability, integrity and transparency in public service.

The case serves as a reminder to members of the public to remain vigilant against individuals who demand money in exchange for promises of government jobs. Recruitment into public service should follow established procedures, and job applicants should report suspected corruption or fraudulent recruitment schemes to the relevant authorities.

Sekikubo remains an accused person, and the allegations against him have yet to be proved in court. His co-accused, Mugerwa Ronald Saaku and Dr Wataba Saadi, remain at large, according to the information provided by the prosecution.
