The National Secretariat for Patriotism (NSPC) has dismissed allegations circulating on social media regarding the management of funds during the recent patriotism training for teachers from the Greater Ankole and Ntungamo region.

The training, which concluded with a pass-out ceremony on 6th September 2025 at Ntare School in Mbarara City, was officiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and attended by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni.

In her statement, Commissioner Helen Seku of the NSPC commended the dedication of the teachers and expressed gratitude to the President and First Lady for their continued support of patriotism initiatives. She also addressed concerns raised online by Yunus L. Chabalongo, who alleged that funds meant for teachers were mismanaged.

Seku explained that President Museveni personally ensured that a transport refund of UGX 300,000 was provided to 1,372 participants. Out of these, 1,145 were present at the parade during the ceremony. However, some teachers who had registered on the first day but left before completing the training returned upon learning of the refund, creating discrepancies in the numbers.

“To ensure fairness, additional transport was given to those who registered and disappeared then came back on last day after hearing about transport news , with amounts varying by district,” Seku clarified. “We stand by the integrity of the process and the transparency of the NSPC.”

She further urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid being swayed by baseless claims, reaffirming that the NSPC remains committed to promoting patriotism, accountability, and national values among Ugandans.
