Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. One such beneficiary is Mrs. Nakimuli Safinah, a resident of Buyondo Village, Zirobwe Sub-county in Luweero District. After receiving UGX 500,000 under the Parish Development Model, she invested the funds in purchasing two goats. Through proper care and breeding, her livestock enterprise has grown steadily, and she now owns 13 goats. The increased income from the enterprise has enabled her to support her family, including paying school fees for her children and meeting other household needs.Mrs. Nakimuli expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM Government for designing and implementing the Parish Development Model, saying the programme has brought meaningful economic transformation to her household.  She encouraged fellow beneficiaries to utilize PDM funds responsibly and invest in productive ventures that can generate sustainable income and improve family livelihoods. Her progress was witnessed during a PDM monitoring exercise led by ONC Regional Coordinator for the Luweero Sub-region, Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, together with local leaders.  The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) continues to witness the transformative impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM) as more beneficiaries across the Luweero Sub-region improve their livelihoods through productive investment under the NRM Government’s wealth creation agenda championed by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.  One of the beneficiaries is Mr. Okiru Charles, a resident of Kirambula Village, Zirobwe Sub-county in Luweero District. Mr. Okiru received UGX 1 million under the Parish Development Model in 2023 and invested the funds in maize and cassava cultivation.After one year of successful farming, he reinvested part of the profits to establish a poultry enterprise. Today, he owns 500 broiler chickens in addition to his maize and cassava gardens, creating multiple sources of income for his household. Mr. Okiru says the increased daily and monthly earnings from his farming enterprises have brought happiness and financial stability to his family. He is now able to meet household expenses, including paying all his bills, thanks to the opportunities created through the Parish Development Model.He commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM Government for introducing PDM, describing it as a practical programme that empowers ordinary Ugandans to create wealth through agriculture and enterprise development. Mr. Okiru also called upon fellow community members to embrace the Parish Development Model and other government wealth creation programmes, emphasizing that proper utilization of the funds can transform livelihoods and improve household incomes.  His progress was witnessed during a PDM monitoring exercise led by ONC Regional Coordinator for the Luweero Sub-region, Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, together with local leaders.  The Parish Development Model (PDM), a flagship wealth creation initiative of the NRM Government under the leadership of H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, continues to register remarkable success stories across the country, with beneficiaries steadily improving their household incomes and livelihoods.  One such success story is that of Mr. Kiza Fazir, a resident of Wabitungulu Village, Kyetume Parish, Zirobwe Sub-county in Luweero District. Mr. Kiza’s life has significantly changed after receiving UGX 1 million through the Parish Development Model.  Determined to put the funds to productive use, Mr. Kiza invested the money in purchasing one dairy cow. Through proper management and reinvestment, his enterprise has since expanded to three cows, demonstrating the power of government support when beneficiaries utilize the funds responsibly.  Today, Mr. Kiza harvests approximately 20 litres of milk daily, earning an average of UGX 20,000 every day from milk sales. At this rate, he expects to earn about UGX 600,000 every month, translating to approximately UGX 7.2 million annually, a significant improvement in household income and financial stability. Speaking during a monitoring exercise, Mr. Kiza expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM Government for introducing the Parish Development Model, describing it as a life-changing intervention that has restored hope to many vulnerable households.He encouraged fellow PDM beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended purpose, emphasizing that prudent investment and hard work can transform families from subsistence living to sustainable wealth creation. The progress of Mr. Kiza’s dairy enterprise was witnessed during a PDM monitoring exercise led by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Regional Coordinator for the Luweero Sub-region, Mr. Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, who was joined by local leaders.  Mukono, UgandaSeeta High School, Mbalala Campus, has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Buganda’s rich cultural heritage by successfully hosting the grand finale of its Luganda Language and Cultural Competition, an initiative aimed at promoting indigenous language, traditions, and cultural values among learners. The colorful event was officiated by the Minister for Culture, Heritage and Tourism in the Buganda Kingdom, Mr. Patrick Eric Ssekabembe, who commended Seeta High School for taking a leading role in nurturing young people to appreciate their cultural identity.  While addressing students, teachers and guests, Mr. Ssekabembe expressed concern over the increasing number of parents neglecting their responsibility of introducing children to Buganda’s language and traditions. He emphasized that parents remain the first custodians of culture and should begin by teaching their children to speak Luganda from an early age. The competition, which began during the first school term, saw students showcase exceptional talent in various cultural disciplines including Luganda public speaking, traditional proverbs, riddles, tongue twisters and other aspects of Buganda’s cultural heritage. Mukuye Elijah emerged as the overall winner after outperforming fellow contestants.Mr. Ssekabembe also encouraged parents to involve their children in coffee farming, urging them to eliminate the misconception that coffee growing is only for the elderly or those who have failed in life. He noted that agriculture remains a valuable economic opportunity for Uganda’s future generation.The Headteacher of Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, Mr. Boniface Ssebukalu, applauded the founders of Seeta Schools, Hon. Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo and Mrs. Rose Muyingo, for continuously supporting programs that promote holistic education beyond the classroom.Mr. Ssebukalu announced that the Luganda Language and Cultural Competition will become an annual event, with the school committed to expanding and improving it every year. Over 300 Students Graduate at First-Ever Bamunanika Government Vocational Institute Graduation as Acting Education Minister Dr. JC Muyingo Calls for Practical Skills

 More than 300 students have graduated with vocational certificates during the first-ever graduation ceremony of Bamunanika Vocational Training Institute in Mulajje, Luweero District.The graduates completed hands-on training in various technical disciplines, including motor vehicle mechanics, welding and metal fabrication, building and construction, electrical installation, tailoring and garment design, hairdressing and cosmetology, among other vocational courses aimed at equipping learners with practical skills for employment and self-reliance. The day’s celebrations began with a Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Ambrose Gombya of Mulajje Parish, assisted by other clergy. The ceremony attracted parents, officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, local leaders and other invited guests. The chief guest was Acting Minister of Education and Sports and Minister of State for Higher Education, Dr. JC Muyingo.During the Mass, Fr. Gombya congratulated Dr. Muyingo upon his appointment as Acting Minister of Education and Sports, commending his continued contribution to the growth of Uganda’s education sector.  He also thanked the Government for expanding access to education across the country.Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the institute’s Principal, John Ronald Muwambo, expressed gratitude to Dr. Muyingo for his continued support towards vocational education. He also thanked the Catholic Church for donating 12 acres of land on which the Government established the institute, while highlighting some of the institution’s achievements and ongoing challenges. The Chairperson of the Governing Council, Dr. Robert Kiyini, also appreciated the Catholic Church for donating the land and appealed for an additional eight acres to facilitate the expansion of agricultural training programmes at the institute.In their remarks, instructors encouraged the graduates to put the knowledge and practical skills they had acquired into productive use and become ambassadors of vocational education in their communities.  The Vicar General of Mulajje Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Gerald Wamala, applauded Dr. Muyingo for championing the establishment of Bamunanika Vocational Training Institute as a Government institution. During the event, he presented the minister with an award originally bestowed by Bishop Lawrence Mukasa in recognition of his outstanding service to education.  Addressing the gathering, Dr. Muyingo expressed concern over individuals who are reluctant to donate land for the construction of Government schools and vocational institutions. He commended the Kasana-Luweero Diocese for donating 12 acres that enabled the Government to establish Bamunanika Vocational Training Institute. Dr. Muyingo also thanked President Yoweri Museveni for entrusting him with the additional responsibility of serving as Acting Minister of Education and Sports, pledging to continue working diligently to strengthen Uganda’s education sector.  He urged the graduates to make good use of the practical skills they had acquired by creating jobs and serving their communities professionally. He also encouraged parents to continue embracing vocational education as a pathway to tackling unemployment and improving household incomes.  The ceremony concluded with Dr. Muyingo awarding certificates to the graduates and receiving appreciation gifts in recognition of his contribution to education.

Speaking to journalists, the director of public health in KCCA, Dr. Sarah Zalwango, has explained the significance of the campaign. saying that a clean environment is everyone's responsibility. She also urged local leaders to take on this campaign at least every month. "I want to appreciate everyone who has been part of this campaign. Health is everyone's responsibility and everyone should take full responsibility of this. I encourage the local leaders to talk to your residents to pay for the garbage through Nabugabo Updeal Joint Venture. These are the people who mandated to do that" she said. Zalwango also reminded residents to be vigilant about the Ebola virus.Residents have taken the opportunity to appreciate KCCA and also made some requests, for the betterment of their locations Aisha Nakayiza has this to say. "Am thankful to KCCA for thinking about our health. Health is very crucial to humans, because without good health, it is close to impossible to fulfill your goals as a person. He however, emphasised that the authority should think about working on the roads, because they affect them so much. Minister Muyingo Calls for Quality Training in Medical Schools as Uganda Strengthens Health Education Standards

 MBALE, UGANDA – June 25, 2026The newly appointed Acting Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, has called on medical training institutions across Uganda to uphold strict quality standards in the training of health professionals, warning against admitting student numbers beyond their capacity to effectively train and supervise. Dr. Muyingo made the remarks during an inspection tour of health training institutions in Mbale City, including Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery, Mbale College of Health Sciences, and Mbale School of Hygiene. The visit coincided with the ongoing final examinations organized by the Uganda Health Professions Assessment Board (UHPAB).   The examinations, which commenced on June 15, 2026, are expected to conclude on June 26, 2026. The inspection was aimed at assessing the conduct of the examinations and evaluating the preparedness of institutions hosting candidates.Dr. Muyingo emphasized that while expanding access to medical education remains important, institutions must not compromise the quality of training. He noted that producing competent health workers is critical to strengthening Uganda’s healthcare system and ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to citizens. The Minister cautioned medical training institutions against over-enrolling students beyond their available capacity, stressing that adherence to established training standards and regulations is essential in producing highly skilled and professional health workers capable of meeting the country’s healthcare needs.  Speaking during the inspection, Hajjat Safina Kisu Musene, the Commissioner responsible for Health Training in the Ministry of Education and Sports, said the examinations had been conducted smoothly across the country without any reported cases of examination malpractice. She commended UHPAB for maintaining high standards in organizing and administering the national assessments. Leaders of the institutions visited, including Ilukor Geresom of Mbale School of Hygiene, Angwelu Angushu of Mbale College of Health Sciences, and Buyo Remaliah of Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery, applauded the Ministry of Education and Sports for its continued support towards improving health training institutions.  They cited government interventions such as the construction of new infrastructure, provision of modern buses for student transportation, and other investments aimed at creating a better learning environment for students pursuing health-related courses.The inspection comes at a time when President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has intensified his call for improved service delivery under the “Kisanja No More Sleep, Kisanja No More Corruption” agenda, emphasizing accountability, efficiency, and the need for government programs and services to effectively reach citizens at the grassroots.Government officials maintain that strengthening the quality of medical education remains a key pillar in building a competent health workforce capable of supporting Uganda’s healthcare needs and contributing to the country’s socio-economic transformation.

Minister Muyingo launches Phase Two of agricultural support programme in Bamunanika, reaching 2,626 homes

 The Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, has launched Phase Two of its agricultural support programme in Bamunanika Constituency, distributing hoes to 2,626 households in a move aimed at boosting food production, fighting poverty and improving household incomes. The exercise was officially launched at Bamunanika Sub-county headquarters in Kanseka and forms part of the government’s continued efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity among rural communities.Speaking through his representative, Mr Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. Dr JC Muyingo, urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the hoes to improve agricultural output and transform their livelihoods. He emphasized that government programmes are intended to help wananchi move out of poverty through active participation in agriculture and other income-generating activities.“This support is meant to empower families to increase food production, fight hunger and create sustainable sources of income. We encourage all beneficiaries to put the hoes to productive use and embrace government programmes aimed at wealth creation,” the minister’s message noted. The distribution targets households across the 42 parishes that make up Bamunanika Constituency.Bamunanika Sub-county Chairperson praised Dr Muyingo for responding to various community concerns and for maintaining close engagement with local leaders and residents.Meanwhile, police Officer at Bamunanika ,Sarah Achan, commended Dr Muyingo for his support to security personnel, citing his contribution towards the repair of three police motorcycles and provision of fuel to facilitate operations.  The Bamunanika Agricultural Officer, Mr Sserunjoji Sam Kityo, revealed that Phase One of the programme saw the distribution of 6,000 hoes. He said the successful implementation of the first phase encouraged government and local leaders to extend support to more households.  He expressed confidence that the availability of farming tools would help residents cultivate their land and boost agricultural production.Local Council One chairpersons applauded the NRM Government and President Yoweri Museveni for rolling out community empowerment initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and agricultural support programmes, which they said are helping many families improve their standards of living. Among the beneficiaries was 76-year-old widow Rebecca Nakato, who expressed gratitude after receiving a new hoe. She explained that her previous hoe had become worn out and that the new farming tool would greatly assist her in preparing her garden for the upcoming planting season.The distribution of hoes highlights government’s renewed commitment to supporting rural farmers with essential agricultural inputs. In many rural communities, the hoe remains the most important farming implement, enabling households to cultivate land, increase food production, improve food security and generate income.  As government accelerates service delivery and wealth creation initiatives across the country, leaders say such interventions will continue to play a crucial role in transforming agriculture from subsistence farming into a pathway for economic growth and household prosperity.
